I bought the ProMark Scott Johnson FireGrain marching sticks, and they are seriously impressive. These are clearly made for drummers who play hard and need sticks that can keep up. The FireGrain treatment really makes a difference—they feel stronger and more durable than standard hickory sticks. The weight and balance are excellent, and the large round tip gives a solid, full sound with great articulation. I also noticed there’s very little excess vibration, which makes long practice sessions much more comfortable on the hands and wrists. The lacquer finish gives a nice grip without feeling sticky, and the sticks hold up incredibly well even after heavy use. I bought these sticks to do pad practise with and not to become a marching band drummer but was very impressed with easy they are to play with and how well balanced they are. Promark makes a quality product.
