2 Units in a row DOA - Relay quality check needed
Hello all, Here is what I tried and my results. I ordered my first unit and supplied 12V from my variable power supply. I can easily see the voltages that I am supplying to my equipment while in the testing phase. That said I set it to the proper voltage (12V) and powered on my board that I received in the mail. The green power indicator had illuminated bright so I knew that I was powered up and ready to go, or so I thought. It states in the user paperwork that the remotes are paired and the board is programmed for use right from the box, this was half true in my case. The remotes gave me no trouble when it came to speaking to the board as there is a red activity light that blinks rapidly while receiving information. You press either button A or B and it blinks rapidly to let you know that it is receiving instructions. My board and remotes would pair and my activity light would blink rapidly, so far so good. At this point I had gotten no farther towards a working board. I hooked up my alarm that was 12V DC and I pressed the A button in the JOG mode to test the relay, the relay failed to activate on button press (tried both). I tried to clear my remotes from the board, change the working mode and repair the remotes. The remotes would repair to the board flawlessly every time. It just made no difference what I did or mode I chose I could not get the remote to activate the relay to complete the circuit from the common and the NO (normally open) contact. I figured that this board had a bad relay and filed for an exact replacement with Amazon which they were accommodating about it. I receive my 2nd board in the mail today and wire it up to the 12V DC power supply and wouldn’t you know, I had the same exact problems with this board as well. I took out my multi-meter and set it to continuity test and tested from the COM to the NO and activated the remote. The relay failed to close. I don’t know if it is possible that this entire batch of stock has bad relays in their boards but after 2 DOAs in a row I was not interested in trying for a 3rd. It is very possible that I have gotten 2 duds but it says plenty about their quality control. I am baffled that it could happen twice but, buyer be careful with this model. It is a shame really because the remote control construction had a superior build quality with responsive buttons and a firm click. Since the remote is the heart to these devices they did a stellar job with the quality there. Seller please check over your stock to prevent more disappointed customers.

Cheap way to add a remote
I used this item to add a few remote controllers to my electric door opener as the OEM were unavailable. It works great and was very easy to install. The remote's working distance is acceptable, but the fact that i hid the control relay/receiver inside the motor's enclosure surely hurt the signal reception. It's a good product.
