GOAT STORY Mug (Marsala_real leather, 12 oz.)

I really like the mug! It looks cool, although it isn't double walled or anything, so it does cool down a little quicker then I'd like. Other then that it's awesome, no leaks or anything.

They're a niche thing but yeah I love them, my last one was hemp and I took care of it badly so it fell apart.

I'm going to be honest. I bought this drinking too much beer next to a river on a nice, sunny day. That being the case, definitely one of the better purchases I've made under such circumstances. I ride the train to work every day, and I absolutely hate holding a coffee between my legs while trying to write America's next great novel on my phone, all while be pushed and/or shoved by the many novelists all around me. I assume they're all novelists, although their word processors seem a bit more advanced than mine.Goat Story Mug fixes this situation. It's easy to just strap the the little guy to my bag, and it usually doesn't leak. The only times that I have noticed leakage (wow, I just discovered that I hate that word), is right after I've washed it. It seems the bit of leftover water in the screw cap keeps it from getting a tight enough fit, but it's easy enough to dry it quickly before use.The small strap is... OK. I bought two different mugs, the red leather for myself, and the hemp for my girlfriend who never uses hers and doesn't seem to like it that much, but she doesn't make fun of mine, which is nice. The main problem is the clip. My clip is a bit too small and loose, while hers is a bit too powerful and thiiiiiick. The result is that mine comes off sometimes when I swear I put it on properly (to be fair, I'm not that trustworthy), and hers requires a light wrestling match to attach to the mug. Both scratch the soft plastic of the mug. Oops.I really haven't used the full body strap much. It doesn't feel very comfortable, and also I feel like a giant dork when I do wear it. This is no judgment on anyone who can pull it off, but I'm not one of those people. Maybe you have to be published before you can go for the more eccentric looks.The sleeve works easily enough. The leather one rarely falls off, but the hemp has a difficult time clinging to the mug with any conviction. It's liable to pop off at any minute and send you scrambling around, like some sort of scramble-man. Further, it will most definitely confuse any Barista you hand it to. Be prepared for a "oh, you're writing one of *those* types of novels" look as they fumble a bit and clearly doubt the container's hot-liquid bearing capabilities.Speaking of hot liquids, it's not gonna stay hot for long. This isn't an insulated mug, and it doesn't pretend to be. The upside is that you're unlikely to burn your tongue 30 full minutes after purchasing (or brewing) your coffee. Much cheaper than I expected. Did not keep coffee warm for very long at all.

Love the concept but the execution is lack luster. It doesn't hold temperature as well as a cheap $12 one from Wal-Mart, and more prone to leaking unless you really crank down on it, once again making the Wal-Mart cheapy a clear winner. The only thing it has going for it is that it looks like a drinking horn.

Mug is small and arrived with out the leather wristband or the long leather strap, unfortunately I’m leaving this week end and will not have time to return the item
