An Amazing Slicer
This is actually my fifth purchase of this item. It takes a little practice to get good at slicing the watermelon, but once you've figured it out you will be eating watermelon all the time. No more putting off eating watermelon because it is a pain to deal with. I now will cut up half a watermelon and put it in a large covered bowl and we have ready to eat. No more spending extra on pre-sliced watermelon from the store.Oh, and the reason this is my fifth purchase...whenever someone comes over and sees it, they are so impressed, I end up buying them one as a gift.

Should be much better quality for the amount charged. Doesn't last long before failure!
It's a great idea. Cheap made and flimsy. Only cut 3 watermelons with it, and it started "shifting" at the end (which is where it needs to be strong to work properly) Unusable now.... threw it away.

Worked great the first time we cut half a watermelon
Worked great the first time we cut half a watermelon. Next time we went to cut another one it broke. We are returning it.

Nice idea, but fails to work on most melons due to design
We eat alot of melons and this looked like a handy tool to avoid getting the rind mixed in with the fruit. Didn't work so well. The cutter part is a short round rod and not sharp at all. It's fine for very ripe fruit, but doesn't cut firm fruit at all. It can pull out slices of watermelon, but leaves alot of the good fruit behind that has to be dug out the "old fashion way." Talked to sales people at Bed, Bath, and Beyond that sell a different brand and they say the idea is good, but in practice it doesn't work very well. They see alot of these coming back.

Why didn't somebody think of this sooner!
My wife saw this advertised on tv a couple of months ago and wanted to try it. She eats a lot of different melons and hates the time needed to cut them up, including cleaning up the mess. She ordered it, and of course it arrived in only a couple of days being a Prime member. She bought a papaya to try it on and let me tell you, it took her only 3 minutes at most to to cut it up, and there was no mess to clean up after. She hasn't tried it on watermelon yet, but if the job it did on the papaya is any indication of what it can do on a watermelon, you will not be disappointed. I highly recommend this product.

Got this for a friend because she was so terrible at cutting a watermelon it was laughable
Got this for a friend because she was so terrible at cutting a watermelon it was laughable. This was a real life saver for her. She loves it. Only downside is we can't make fun of her anymore.

don't bother
This seemed like a good idea at the time, but it really isn't a very good mechanism for cutting watermelon, so it's not worth the bother or the purchase price. I used it a few times but have now gone back to my old manual method. It's made well and I have no complaints about the product itself. But, gripping the sliced pieces doesn't really work well, so it's hard to get them out of the melon. It also leaves a lot of waste around the inside of the rind. And it's pretty hard (tricky) to cut straight consistent slices with it.
