Requires a 5/8 inch mounting hole, it can fit through glass or acrylic up to 1.5 inches in depth. Features a built in 5 amp relay and includes a three prong power cord. With this float switch you can automate your top off, keeping your water at a consistent level. Auto top off systems can help keep your salinity stable, keeping your fish and/or corals from getting stressed out. It also helps keep your pumps from running dry. Simply mount the float switch at a desired water level. Plug in the supplied power cord to the switch. Plug in the power cord to an outlet and plug a pump into the receptacle end. When the water level in your sump drops 1 inch the float switch will switch on a pump. The pump will pump fresh water into your sump. When the desired water level is reached this float switch will shut off the pump.

Exactly as advertised.
Perfect for my application. Much better than using the gravity fed models. I can place my backup res anywhere and use a small fountain pump to top off my main res.One shortfall: there is a pin connection for power. Power should be hardwired. Connectors came loose a couple times and top off pump didn't run for at least a day.
