Bought this to sharpen my electric razor and works well.

I really love this paste. Especially great on my carving chisels. Works Great. Like others, mine dried up into a cake. I broke this up as best I could with a screw driver into very small fine pieces. The jar says Ammonia and Naphtha had been added. Had some on hand so I decided to give it a try. The paste is NOT cheap. I put 1/2 teaspoon each of Ammonia and Naphtha in the jar and worked it back into a paste with a small stick. Just like new. We'll see how long it lasts, but it put a great shine on my plane blade. Not sure the jar is as air tight as it could be. I might not be using it up fast enough. Beats throwing it out.

My jar cane with the paste almost solidified. I contacted Trend and they recommended I add a few drops of mineral oil. It worked great and the oil also helps to nourish the leather strop. It seems to adhere better to leather that's been conditioned. On dry leather, the paste becomes a fine powder that rubs away. With just 1 application, I can strop till the strop becomes black and shiny from being loaded up with metal particles. Using a simple pencil eraser, the shiny surface becomes matte again (but still dark grey) and I can continue to strop without adding more paste. Very aggressive and easily beats (by several orders or magnitude) green chromium oxide in speed, edge refinement and polish. Gentle stropping that takes forever? Not anymore, girlfriend. I strop hard and my knives' edges are sharper than they've ever been. And that's straight from a 2$ (yes, 2 dollars) 400-ish grit soaking stone. Definitely the best stropping compound I've ever used.

If you want "glassy sharp" edges, this is the stuff for you. My standard sharpening stones go to a 8000 grit but if you are sharpening a straight razor or special blade and want that ultra-smooth edge, get some of this stuff and apply it judiciously (in accordance with safety instructions) to a decent quality leather strop, employ carefully and you will get that wonderful ultra-smooth finish. Really impressed.

I use a leather strop and a tiny dab of this paste. 10 strokes and razor sharp!
