Fit perfectly on top on the shovel
It was a bit hard to screw the screws into the handle but that was because the handle is hardwood.

Sturdy and It perfectly fit the shaft of the snow shovel.. Previous plastic handle was broken. This is a heavy gauge metal with a wood grip. Made an old shovel work again

Made well
I like that itโs a metal and wood handle! We have replaced 3 plastic shovel handles with these and they are very sturdy and we feel like they will last. Only time will tell of course. All the plastic handles get brittle and crack. These are the way to go. ๐

Missing

Don't rivet the handle.
Fitting this D-handle to the wooden shaft on your shovel isn't that difficult. It should be a good snug fit, and that can be accomplished with a scraper or pocketknife, and some sand paper. When it came to riveting the handle to the wood shaft, the force of riveting popped the factory rivet holding the wood grip, however. (Most people wouldn't even try riveting the handle on, but that's how it normally should be done.) In this case, better to drill through and mount the handle to the shaft using a couple 3/16" X 1 1/2" bolts and nuts, or skip drilling and just use four sheet metal screws. Once I get this handle fitted, I expect it will outlast my plastic snow shovel, and be used to replace the plastic handle on my next plastic snow shovel, etc., etc. So it's worth the money. If they wanted to make it better, they could put a washer under the small end of the rivet they use to fasten the turned wood grip to the metal, before they peen the rivet.
