Expensive, however seems worth it!
I have a Steamist electronic shower control. It is very sensitive to pressure differences in hot/cold source depending on load in the rest of the house. I installed this in front of the Steamist and no more error codes from the Steamist. I especially like that the valve is serviceable although I don't expect to have to it is a solid piece of equipment.

Easy to install.
Great product for some situations. Replacing a pre-pressure balancing tub/shower setup in difficult to access areas is the perfect application for this product. Installing it upstream from the shower tree is often easier, especially if your facility already has PEX pipes. It also can be much less expensive overall. The product works well. I have ordered my 2nd one to install in another bathroom.

Grohe quality. Seriously the best.
This is astm 1066 not 1013 but works great. The difference means little unless you plan on bleeding in your tub while it is full and your neighbor's house is on fire and they sucked your bloody water out of the full tub through a submerged faucet spiket. Sounds dumb and highly unliely. That's what I told my plumbing inspector and he signed off anyway.

Uniform water pressure after installing
Solved my problem in the upstairs master shower changing temperature when a toilet flushed, or a sink was used. I found it difficult to solder inside my wall without catching the house on fire, so get some sheet metal to create a shield. Also, my big mistake was not using the right kind of solder on the copper fittings. Recommend you purchase new flux and solder to not have my problems getting a good seal. In my case, when water pressure came up I flooded my lower floor ceiling and had to repaint.

Restricts water flow
It does work. However, it restricts the flow rate significantly. I can still use my shower but there it's noticeably less water coming out.

Does the job perfectly.
Does the job perfectly. Now we can use the water somewhere else in the house without getting blasted with hot or cold water in the shower. We had a shower where putting in a new shower valve would have been a huge job, and this was much easier to locate remotely and give us the same functionality.

Works great
Balanced the pressure and stoped the knocking from my shower valve! Still has decent flow for a 12" rain head.

Solid
Solid lump of brass. It's for areas where water pressure is high and needs to be reduced in-line. It has threaded inserts but you can get adapters for other types of connections. It's commercial grade. Thick solid brass throughout.Hope that helps.

Balances water perfectly
Installed for a tenant who was complaining about temperature variance in the shower. Problem was immediately solved and I avoided replacing the complete faucet with major ceramic tile and plumbing re-work.
