How often do you need to replace the batteries ?

I've only had this model for 4 months, but the inherent I had before this one lasted over 30 years and new batteries every 3-5 years.

How do I turn off the alarm?

Under Time Set: (down Al.On/Off) click to turn on or off the alarm clock.

The numbers are so light, almost like they're grayed out, so it's hard to see them. Is there a way to make the numbers darker?

NOPE! No illumination or contrast adjustment settings. It’s like an old classroom calculator. If it’s in the shade, it disappears.

How close to an outside wall is needed for the clock to receive time radio signal? (East Coast location)

My clock is not hanging near an outside wall. It is on an inside wall facing my front door and large window about ten feet away. It seems to catch the radio time signal with no issues.
