BEST COLD AIR SYSTEM FOR THE $$$
Absolutely perfect, very compact and durable. Just have to seal the detachable end for my offroad/snorkel application. Very nicely made in the UK, not China, and assembled with what looks to be stainless hardware with torx bolts. Possibly the best universal cold air intake system on the market. Thought it would be a crappy chinese knock off for the price but it is 100% legit. Great job K&N

Works well, easy fit
This unit works great and does improve my engine performance. Colder air into the carburetor has allowed for a leaner air mix and faster fuel burn. The response in the engine is very noticeable. All parts work and fit well, just choose the right configuration for your car. I only made a few simple modifications to the hose clamps to better secure the intake for my application. The install was less than an hour. The intake system comes with a high quality K&N lifetime air filter. It is very easy to access the filter canister after installation.

2001 Pt Cruiser Has New Life!
I put this filter in a 2001 PT Cruiser 2.4L engine it works great. It looks and fits better than the original air box. At least now you can get to the battery if you have to without taking out the air box. More horse power that you can feel with E3 spark plugs and royal purple 10w30 motor oil. But you will need to order the hose kit from 70mm to 60mm so that you can hook it up to your intake stock hose. K&N hose kit number 85-6003

Junk!
This is a terribly designed and built product. The housing is made from thin plastic that flexes badly, the end of the housing that necks down to the hose diameter is held on by friction (read not at all held on), the outer diameter of where the provided flexible hose connects to the air filter is the same diameter as the mean diameter of the flexible hose which is the same diameter as the provided forcing cone.So the hose doesn't fit anything and is currently slit up the ends and held on by zip ties and a silicon connector with a hose clamp over it. The housing is currently being held together by a stylish zip tie bra. This is a terrible, thrown together, product. If you have a show car that just needs to look cool and never actually work, then this is the product for you.

Wonderful sound - the math makes sense. Buy One Now.
Update 8/30/11: I put a lot of miles on this filter - maybe 12,000 miles. Now I'm interested in repalcing the filter - Does anyone know which filter to get?Amazing intake no doubt. If you already have ram air piping you're all set with this kit. K&N should make a video for the install so people with different intake set-ups know exactly which kit to buy.The sound this thing puts out is utterly elegant. The body housing gets the air in evenly - much more so than an open filter. I put it onto a 2.0L and the harmonics are just so deep and gathered they made me smile right away.My MPG meter looks sweet as I'm cruising - looking 10-15% better than an open filter. Buy It Buy It Buy It.....You will not be sorry. The one I'm removing looks like this [...] loppy

sealed cold air intake
i put this unit on a hyundai elantra 2.0. it makes noise and sounds cool but after a week it started to loose its deep noise and sounded more like an exhaust leak. it never increased power really and i think it made the car slower with acceleration however i noticed a gain of one mpg. i ended up putting the old quiet air box and a k/n filter in that instead. this product is easy to install but you will have to go to pepboys or autozone for adapter hoses and clamps from filter to original hose where the mass air flow is

08 Subaru outback with snorkel
I used this back a few years on my 08 subaru outback. I installed a snorkel on the passenger side, the stock air box was removed and I enclosed the end of the Apollo air filter fixture with some sewer drainage hose without the perforations from lowes for 3 dollars and a hose clamp sealed with silicone. The sewer hose attached to the snorkel with a hose clamp and silicone gasket maker in the finder wall. After all said and done I cleaned it up and it worked great. You could hear the Apollo sucking in air from the top of the snorkel opening even when accelerating on the highway. The snorkel kept the kn Apollo air filter clean as can be. I drove from ANC Alaska to Texas hit a few blizzards in Canada and Montana and had no difficulty at all in the snow or with loss of power. Recommend this product for Subaru outback drivers

disapointing
Seemed like a great idea, but disappointing in the execution. When I ordered this, I assumed the airbox housing was made of anodized aluminum. It's not; it's a cheap-looking plastic. It isn't the tough, flexible kind of plastic, like that used on motorcycle airboxes. It's made of a shiny, hard plastic, which I suspect may be susceptible to breaking, cracking, and/or melting from the engine heat. It's pretty big, too; about 7-8" diameter and about 11" long. Make sure you have room for it if you get it, and make sure you're ok with it being plastic. I wouldn't trust it near anything hot.I sent mine back to Amazon and got a K&N filter, and will be making my own airbox.
