Has anyone had this long term and seen any damage or issues with the brackets not mounting flush because of rivet?

Good quality product. Make sure it’s applied with the correct brackets and placement. Test closure before slamming it shut. Adjust if necessary. Use the lock tight. I’m happy with mine so far.

I need one for the rt side, does it fit both sides?

No, it will only fit on the left side. If you’re looking to have one on both sides you don’t need it. All you need is 1.
