Great Improvement over previous model from same company
My earlier version has worked just fine for several years, which speaks well of the quality and reliability of this company. (1) The disc slide in-out is an excellent improvement over previous "drawer" model. Easier to load-upload. (2) What really impresses me is the precise control using the Fast-Forward or Fast-Rewind feature. I do a lot of fast-forward and fast-rewind when watching movies. The device follows my mouse selections instantly and with great precision. Older version was a little glitchy using this feature. I was reluctant to upgrade since old version worked OK, but after watching a couple of movies; the precision Fast-Forward and Fast-Rewind plus the more convenient disc loading justifies the cost of getting this new version. I highly recommend this disc player. Also comes with excellent compact case to carry when traveling. I use the device on an iMac 27" computer to watch movies as I don't have a TV.

Works on Linux
Works on Linux, plug and play. No fuss no nonsense. I wanted to watch some old DVDs on my Thinkpad and it worked right out of the box. I'm impressed and happy.

No Eject Button
Missing an eject button and device won't connect to any computer or device I have. Was dumb enough to hope it would work and put a disc in when I first got it. Getting a refund and ripping the thing apart to get my movie back. Hoping all the whirring wasn't it scratching my disc.

Solves the problem of Macs no longer having disc drives!
I have a new MacBook Pro which means I now have to endure having a laptop without a DVD drive. This almost convinced me to just cling to my outdated 2012 model before I realized this is a problem every Mac user was facing and I had to just endure it. I quickly went online to see what options were available and found this model was really popular — and since it has a USB-C connection instead of a USB-A, it means you can plug it right into your MacBook Pro. (Although it comes with an adapter to transfer USB-C to USB-A which is going to come in handy if ever I want to share something with someone with a PC, etc.). Not only does it plays CDs/DVDs but it burns, too. I burned a new music CD for my car shortly after it arrived and it was smooth and quiet and did the trick amazingly. Thanks to this company for making an inexpensive product that makes it so I didn’t have to trash this new computer.

This is a fabulous gadget. Super easy to use, crystal clear sound and sharp rich image. No bits to mess with, literally plug and play. The quality and functionality meet those of more costly models. This is a truly compact drive that comes in its own stylish case and is coming with me on my trips long and short distance.
