Simple working outdoor thermometer
Great, simple thermometer for outside. I was looking at the fancier, digital ones but just wasn't thrilled about all the bells and whistles. Digital can't get wet (seriously, it's outside and it can't get wet?!) and just seemed to get too complicated. So, I went back to the basics, lol!

Taylor 5135 Wall Thermometer has compressed scale
I've had two Taylor 5135 Handy Temp. wall thermometers for several years. They had large, easy to read scales, and were fairly accurate. The four Taylor 5135N Wall Thermometers I just received from Amazon have compressed scales, and are not as easy to read. At an indoor temperature of 70 F, the four thermometers read from 69 degrees to 72 degrees. That's only moderate accuracy compared to the older versions. At 25 F, the four thermometers read from 20 to 26 F.In fact, the current Amazon photo of these thermometers is different than the ones I ordered less than 2 weeks ago. There seem to have been at least four different versions of the 5135 ( or 5135N) . The metal back plate is always the same, but the temperature scales change often. Even so, these thermometers are still better than many on the market . They are simple, rugged, inexpensive, respond rapidly to temperature change, and are still easier to read than some other thermometers. Exactly which version you receive after ordering, however, seems to be uncertain. I personally would not order the version currently shown on this page, as scale graduations are on the opposite side of the glass tube from the scale numbers, making it hard to read. Further, they have now left off the celsius scale. And, how many people want a hard to read compressed scale just so the thermometer can go down to minus 80 degrees F? I even went onto eBay looking for the " vintage" models such as I like, but they're hard to find. I don't understand why the current versions of these otherwise good thermometers have such goofy scales. Update- the photo of the Taylor 5135N on this page has now changed again. Geez....

Bait & switch
I'm not reviewing this product because we received the 5135 instead of the 5135N. Not happy at all. Numbers are smaller, no color, & useless (to us) Celcius on the right hand side. I spent time picking out what we wanted only to receive a product we didn't choose. Blah

the colors and numerals are nothing like the photo
The item is similar to the photo in two aspects. It is a Taylor thermometer, and it is in a white plastic case. However, the colors and numerals are nothing like the photo. I am disappointed.

Very nice
Accurate to about a degree and consistent. Simple instruments. You have to be pretty close to it to read it accurately however.

Gets the job done
The product I received does not match the photo. However, it gives an accurate temperature reading and seems pretty durable for the price.

A great thermometer for a very reasonable price.
I've been using my Taylor Precision Wall Thermometer for a long time. It's a handy thing to have if you are interested in knowing the exact outside or inside temperature. I operate a home weather station and this thermometer has never failed me.
