Witty, Revealing and Insightful
I enjoyed this book because it gives a behind the scenes view of famous and interesting people by an insider revealing both how normal and how not normal they can be. There are some fascinating business stories intertwined as well. It is entertainingly written with wit, rings with honesty, and the style clearly reflects that the author has never lost his humility or graciousness while rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous. Mr Rosen’s extended family contains some legendary and famous Hollywood people as does his glamorous business career but I was left wanting to know more about the early life of this extraordinary man and how he came to be who he is. I'm hoping an expanded version with more details appears one day.

INTERESTING, BUT TOO MUCH 'NAME DROPPING'
I bought this book as I love old Hollywood personalities and this looked interesting. It was fairly readable, but there was just too much 'name dropping' of I know this famous person and that famous person and my wife, Arlene Dahl and I did this, and went to this exotic location, ate here and dined with this and that famous person... which got to be a little too much of 'look what a glamorous life we have folks !' It was enjoyable in parts, but could have been edited better.

Rhonda
He obviously is a jet setter and enjoys life to its fullest; has many famous friends in the book. But being a fan of Rhonda Fleming, I had to wonder what Rhonda thought of the mean spirited remarks about her and her husband. I can understand them not finding her husband to be fascinating, although he did help Rhonda establish the Ronda Fleming Mann Clinic for Comprehensive care, at UCLA for women with Cancer. This in honor of her sister who died from ovarian cancer. To end the story on her with his wife saying "I can't imagine any one living with such a dour person", and his tasteless remarks about Rhonda's husband dying. I wish He had left that part out and just let it go since the rest of the book is interesting. Some of it is very touching, some funny, but I guess I am a Rhonda fan and didn't see the need to put that in the book. Rhonda was alive when the book was published. Also, the chapter on Gloria De Haven was rather cruel. The luncheon he talks about with his wife and another famous couple, contains thoughtless remarks about Gloria's anxiety attack. Was this necessary for him to reveal a personal private breakdown? They congratulated themselves at the table saying they did all they could to help her. If he really was trying to be helpful, he would not bring this up in the book while she was still alive. She died later, the same year the book came out.

Rubbing Shoulders with Marc Rosen first; then Popes, Princes, Moguls, and Movie Stars
Marc Rosen shares his marvelous journey through his career, his relationship with actress Arlene Dahl, and his personal experiences with some of the world's most notable movie stars, royalty, religious and political figures. He can name drop with the best of them and he does in a humorous and colorful manner. Marc is super talented, well-respected in the fragrance, cosmetic and fashion arena. He is unparalleled in all those categories. I felt as if I were there with him as I read the pages. He writes in a style as if he is having a personal conversation with you about these extraordinary people. A must read! S. Zareff

RSVP to Rubbing Shoulders
"Rosen recounts the highlights of his interactions with the world’s most public figures in this memoir, offering readers a vicarious escape with well-told and adventurous anecdotes. Rosen sets the tone for 'Rubbing Shoulders' by opening with a childhood memory which — though bittersweet — he ends with a hearty, “Ain’t life grand!” With such an optimistic, insatiable personality, perhaps it’s no wonder that the designer has had a career marked by close-encounters with the rich and famous — among them Bruce Weber, Lorenzo Lamas and Joan Collins (pictured rubbing shoulders with the author, above left) — not to mention the respected and renowned, such as Pope John Paul II and Princess Grace of Monaco. So if you could use a little quality time with Joan Rivers, Karl Lagerfeld or Liza Minnelli, allow Rosen to introduce you through his delightful stories and photography. It’s no wonder he’s smiling back broadly in nearly every frame." Review by Barbara Mele, as originally published in 'Metrosource' magazine ([...])
