Installing this item means making it fit to your particular door. A good handy man can do it in 2-3 hrs. They’re all a little different. I just cut and painted a 1x2 to drop in the slot the door runs in to secure the door. Like you should do on any slider. Had to remove 2 screws and the latch for the door. My door also has a magnet on the door and a switch in the frame for the security system. So when this plug is installed, the security system no longer works. I could have (Go:::::a) taped a magnet over the switch but this is a seasonal home and it takes 5 min to remove this plug. Well made. I see lots of WX stripping comments so picked up a roll of expanding ½” x ½” at Mr. Big Box which covered both edges. One cat immediately figured it out. He’ll teach his brother. Looking forward to paying for this in a couple of months with lower AC $ here in SW Fl. Follow the training suggestions that come with it. Some cats understand the Hawthorn Effect. Some just don’t want to immediately follow instructions. We have one of each.Update: When everything was in place, (including a piece of 1x2 to keep the slider from being moved by thrives) we had a 1/2” + gap between the glass and the end of the door opposite from the pet door. Bought a 10’ piece of ¾” inside diameter (⅝” outside diameter) clear plastic tubing locally or on AZ and pinched it into an oval cross section while sliding it into the gap top to bottom. Completely sealed it. Don’t glue it. Friction holds it. This only works if you use another door for humans. We have Two triple sliders so it worked.

The doggy door is very to install it. EXCELLENT !!!

This product is very well made, sturdy and easy to install. Our issue was that we could not get a good seal between it and our door/door frame. We are in Florida so getting a good seal is pretty important. We bought several different kinds of weather stripping and still hot humid air was coming into the house. After fiddling with it for a couple weeks we returned it. I am going to shop for weather stripping solutions and if I find something that fits our door well then I will order it again.

The Ideal Pet Door material is of good quality, and the height adapter worked perfectly, however, installation was not possible. My sliding door (dark color in the photo) closes to the right and there is a part of the lock on the right side that is more pronounced and fits into the part that runs on the track to lock the door. The pet door does not have an opening on either side to allow the lock part to enter/fit (highlighted in the photo of my sliding door), which results in a gap between these two pieces. I cannot judge energy efficiency neither weatherproof because I returned the door.

I love the door, but I had to send it back. It was a half an inch too tall and I couldn’t find anybody to cut it down.

I love this door! My 3 yr old inside kitty was a little reluctant at first to push with her head but after pushing her forward several times with treats on the other side she got the message. I don’t I have to leave our sliding open from the master bedroom unlocked and opened a bit for her to go in and out any longer. This door was the answer! Also my husband said it was easy to install..

I love this dog door. It's easy to put together, easy to move, very solid when it's in place. The flap is clear so my dog can see through it which makes it easier for her to go through.She is 9 pounds but the flap was a bit too small. Wish the door was a couple inches taller.

Said it went to 96” but it was about 1/2 inch too tall and would go in. I’m going to go to the store for expert advice and then order on Amazon!
