MCE is the company for me.
I can't say enough nice things about this company. Even before they arrived I realized I had ordered the wrong units. MY computer was built in 2008 and these burners were made for a later model year. I contacted the company and though my error, they sent me the adapters (free of charge) to insure the burners would work with my tower. They even stayed in contact prior to all parts arriving to insure I would have no issues. It took about 15 minutes to install and I am happy to report that BOTH burners are fully operational. MCE is a great company to deal with. Thanks guys

Good device, quick service
Good device, quick service, and easy to install. However, I didn't get a registration # for the Blu-ray player software. Need a little additional help from the seller. Please.

Its not blue but it works
This works great in my Mac Pro as a blu-ray reader/writer. Its a bit on the expensive side but thats mostly due tot he software that comes with it.Just be aware, dispite the picture, the drive is black in color, not blue.

Had I known this was an LG I would have simply bought an LG!!!
I have been using LG Blu-ray burners in my Mac Pro Mid-2012 since, well… since they were pretty much available for the Mac. I’ve tried Panasonic, but that brand doesn’t seem to work so well. The LG’s work perfectly, but seem to need to be replaced about every year as they begin to report read errors. So, when it came time to replace my upper Blu-ray, I thought I would try the MCE, even though it was twice the price as the LG, hoping to have better longevity. So, I was somewhat dismayed, irritated, and disappointed to find that after going the trouble and the cost what I had installed was EXACTLY what I have in my lower bay… you got it—ANOTHER LG. It reports as the HL-DT-ST BD-RE WH16NS40. This is an LG burner. Now I’m just angry. I’m SICK AND TIRED of companies that RIP OFF Mac users. Avoid this drive. Buy an LG. It’s $69.00. Apparently the EXACT model. You go through the trouble of disconnecting the front of the drive so the tray will go out of the bay door and save yourself quite a bit of money. I’m VERY disappointed. I will NEVER purchase a SINGLE thing from this company EVER again.

Great for Mac Pro
Used in my Mac Pro 5,1 to rip some Blu-Ray movies. The Pros:Easy installationDecent playback software includedAverage read/write speedsThe cons:Holy crap is it loud! When my Mac would start up, it would make some extremely loud noise. Didn't seem to be a defect or anything, just something to be aware of.

The only internal Blu-Ray burner for Mac on Amazon. Need adapter to use on 2006 Mac Pro.
The only internal blu-ray burner for Mac I can find on Amazon. Not fault of the seller but this drive has SATA interface therefore, it doesn't work with 2006 Mac Pro 1,1 as it has IDE interface. I thought I have the 2008 Mac Pro. Solved it by hook it up with an IDE to SATA adapter. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B008X8NK0I/ref=cm_cd_asin_lnk However, I had trouble with the adapter initially. If you install it as a second drive in the lower bay, make sure you set the jumper on the adapter to "Slave". It came in default as Master. There's no instruction came with the adapter. I tried to setup up as cable-select (no jumper) but I wasn't sure how to set it up as cable-select. Since there's only 3 pins and one side says "Master" and the other side says "Slave" so I figure that no jumper would mean cable select but that freezes the computer. Setting the jumper to slave fixed the problem.I use it for data backup at work so no special software is needed, just the default Disk Utilities came with the OS will do the job. Description in the packing slip and receipt said it came with a blank blu-ray disk but it doesn't. However, no points deduction on this as the description in Amazon doesn't say it came with the disk. Just got it so can't say anything about the durability and disk compatibility.

The Best Blu-Ray Drive if You Have a Mac Pro.
First off, I’ll take one star off because the drive I received did not have the cool blue drive door in the pictures, and it took an extra day to receive the code for the blu-ray player software. That out of the way: I have tried many optical drives in my 2009 Mac Pro, and all (but Apple’s now-vintage SuperDrive) had minor issues: no eject function after sleep, drive disappears after sleep, burns go wrong with weird errors, etc... it just isn’t worth doing the trial and error to find a drive with no issues. Having had MCE’s product for six months, I have had zero problems using the drive. If you want a blu-ray drive for your classic Mac Pro, this is the only way to go.

Excellent Product!
Easy enough to install, works great. Good capacity, nice to upgrade to Blu-ray at a decent price.
