Hahahahaha
This review is for someone like me who may be thinking outside of the box. I want to save you some time and a lot of mess. I have 2 small dogs who eat two different brands of hydrolyzed protein canned prescription foods. The food is difficult to get out of the can and even worse to break up. It kills my hands to do it every meal time, especially on the next night after the second halves of the cans have resided in the fridge for 24 hours. I got a brilliant idea to see if someone had invented a dog food cutter-upper and I found this. I thought that if I could somehow figure out how to get the loaf of food out of the can in one piece that I could use this slicer to slice and dice it. Like I would if I ate Spam. Well, for starters.....after a year and more of feeding them these foods I don't know why I thought I was all of a sudden going to be able to get the food out in one piece. It's not like the old cranberry sauce cans that you could cut off the bottom/top and push the contents out. You can't. That would be way too simple. So I put a paper plate on the counter with the slicer sitting expectantly on it. I tried loosening the food all around the inside of the can with a knife, and then used a serving fork down the middle to yank it out. Nope. But I did get it in two pieces so I was excited to give the slicer a whirl. Sliced right through it. I picked up the food to turn it around for the next slice. Sliced right through it. I was full of joy!!!! One more turn for the dice and the food went everywhere. Everywhere except the paper plate under the slicer, that is. I mean everywhere. So. I'm giving this incredible little slicer a full 5 stars and great review because I think it would easily do it's job with Spam or something similar. Plus it was easy to separate the two parts and thoroughly clean it by hand. But not for dog food. Oh no. Not for dog food. I'll put it away until some time that I boil an ostrich egg ;)

Works well
We use this for cutting Spam, other soft meats, softer cheeses, hard boiled eggs, pickles, etc. Gives uniform slices and cleans easily. Do not try to cut harder vegetables such as carrots or celery. Peeled cucumbers or peeled zucchini are ok if moderate in thickness. Things cook better when evenly sized.

For single slicing, excellent; if you want to cube the SPAM, the third cut is inconvenient
For basic slicing of SPAM, this works admirably. For the moderate misuse I put it to -- _cubing_ SPAM to go in macaroni-and-cheese -- it was less useful, but not through any fault of the slicer. the first two cuts worked without a problem, but when I tried to pick up the 'sticks' and turn them for the third cut, the softness of the SPAM and the large number of pieces made it difficult to hold together to turn. It still worked, but I judge it less convenient than slicing with a knife for cubing. For slicing to fry or just as lunchmeat, it works excellently, and I look forward to using it the next time I make fried cornmeal mush and SPAM (yes, it's a bodge of a breakfast, but my mother made it when I was a kid, and it's been a comfort food).

Great slicer
Makes even slices and is easy to clean up. I bought it to pre-slice some queso de freir so I could have slices ready to go in the fridge for a snack. Such a time saver. I wish the slices were just a little thinner, but it still works for my purpose. The only downside is that metal part comes out of the hinge a bit easy, but it's possible that it's a combo of the hardness of the cheese and the size. Just use two hands: one to hold down the hinge, the other to do the slicing.

Fine for soft foods only
Operates ok on soft foods only. We use it to cut spam and it does fine for that. We wish it sliced a little thinner slices but works ok. It does come apart sometimes but is easily reassembled

Total waste of your money, it breaks
Don't buy it, you will regret it. It's so cheap, and that's obvious by the materials. The cutting strings break pretty quickly--like after a few uses. I mean, I have seen beading thread (or even fishing line) that is sturdier than the wires they used for this product. Very disappointed, and now it's in the trash can because the strings just popped right off! (Broke in front of me). Totally ridiculous, CHEAP product. I feel fooled. I hate writing reviews but I wanted everyone to know about my experience. I am looking at an alternative here that costs more, but I know it will hold up under normal use. Be aware!
