A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Heaven: (Or, How I Made Peace with the Paranormal and Stigmatized Zealots and Cynics in the Process) [Taylor, Corey] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Heaven: (Or, How I Made Peace with the Paranormal and Stigmatized Zealots and Cynics in the Process) Review: Wow - I got this delivered today and already started on it. I had no idea Corey Taylor was an author on top of being an amazing vocalist. Paranormal stuff is right up my alley, too, so when I saw this I immediately had to get it. So far it's a great book. Really can't go wrong with good jokes and engaging stories (including slipknot and other musicians). I'll have to look into some of the other books he wrote now too. Review: Slip-not your ordinary book - I ordered this book off of desertcart and within two days of receiving it, I had finished it. Corey Taylor's latest dive into the world of writing is a fun, quick and very interesting read. Warning: If you don't like Corey Taylor, ghosts, or long rants about completely useless yet interesting information, then this is not the book for you. Taylor talks about not only some of his past run-ins with the paranormal, but also his theory behind the science of the paranormal. While some chapters can seem to drag on with his scientific 'mumbo-jumbo', others are scintillating with his ghost stories. He also writes with a style that can seem to many that he is condescending and doesn't really care what the reader thinks, however it seems, to me at least, that this is just the way Taylor tells his story, as if he was talking to any other individual. It may not be a 'professional' way of writing, but it very easily makes it feel like he is talking right to the reader.

A mind on fire
I love reading stuff from this guy. Even his text is animated; his voice is strong and his personality vivid. He's relatable in his curiosity and imaginings of achieving legendary grandeur while he's at it. Who hasn't gotten high off a popular science book/meditation/mind altering drug and stumbled on an idea that seems like the key to unlocking the next stage of human evolution? That's pretty much what Taylor's doing here, if you're interested in hearing these kinds of riffs from a dude like him. Lay though he is, with a lot of unverified information and the fiery ego that propelled him to rock godhood, he maintains a humility and awareness that he really doesn't know much beyond his own experiences. These experiences are absolutely worth reading, though, and despite the lack of epistemological hygiene here, he does mention some concepts that are being explored in earnest by more credible researchers and institutions. A further reading section or bibliography would've been nice... Maybe in a future edition.

Another CMFT masterpiece
Most of Corey's books are his strong opinions about politics, religion, and about people. But this one is totally different. He pushes you to have an open mind and to think about something such as ghost in a different ways.

Honest, Intelligent, Funny, Intriguing!
I'm reading this for the second time. Even gave one to my niece as a Christmas '19 gift. I think she was finished before New Years. Her and I agree this book is written as though he was talking it in person. He doesn't care if you dislike his cursing – it's just himself, uncut. He actually made me laugh so many times, basically because of how he kicks establishment in the ass, but does it in such an unsophisticated, sometimes arrogant, but always honest intelligence that upends his pompous blow hard, stage angst. I literally applauded his insight and experiences as it's so consistent to my own awareness, but man does he put it into words I've been unable to exploit. Highly recommend this book.

So entertaining!!
I'm a HUUGGGEEE slipknot and stone sour fan so naturally I love corey Taylor. I read his first book seven deadly sins and was unsure of the book. I agree with him on the topic but it was a little difficult to Follow. But this book is very different. It is so awesome and just fun to read and gives you a little different side to how and why in his mind ghosts or "spirits" are existing to him with him not believing in god. He tells some HILARIOUS stories and it's just a blast. Totally recommend it to anyone! 5 stars everyday.

I picked up this book out of curiosity and for the entertainment value. As a reader who is naturally drawn towards paranormal studies, and debates about atheism, I knew I would enjoy the topic. I also happen to like Slipknot and Stone Sour, but that's beside the point. I enjoyed the stories, the anecdotes and the unfiltered narrative. Corey Taylor is what he is and no one can change that. He does warn us that he doesn't give a damn about our feelings. I laughed several times because the way he writes has authenticity, I regret not having listened to the audio version first. The depicted paranornal experiences are immersive and was surprised so much has happened. For tolerance's sake I won't ask what is true or not, and his theories and ideas aren't the type of science I would quote to someone else during my next conversation about ghosts. This book is (like the first one, I assume) a collection of memoirs more than a formal study on the paranormal. As an atheist and overall curious person, you will find this read quite interesting if you don't mind the sometimes crude language. Or the many digressions within Taylor's hyperactive mind. If you're someone who can't sit through pages of unsettling stories, this book may not be for you. Same goes for Slipknot fans: the book has very little references to the band barring one part of a chapter. "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Heaven" is a glimpse of Taylor's life among the unseen energies and dimensions. There was no other way to describe it, so he wrote a book.

Corey Taylor is one of the musicians that is deeper than his music. This book is brilliantly written and does not hide true feelings, both negative and positive. If you want to know what it’s like to be a rockstar under immense pressure I highly suggest you read this book.

Loved this book! I think Corey is awesome at speaking his mind and telling the truth for exactly how it is. I'm also interested in the paranormal and I never knew Corey was also as interested by it. I don't think he has ever lived in a house which was not haunted! As he suggests, perhaps spirits are attracted to his own energy and either follow him around or make their presence known wherever he goes! He has some wonderful experiences throughout his life of spirit and paranormal activity, right from his childhood days, through to recording with Slipknot, and even in his current home. He makes his experiences fun and exciting with the language that only Corey knows! He does go into alot of scientific theory about the existence of spirits, and tries to come up with new hypothesis about how life and death can exist. I'm sure there are some people that don't really want to hear about theories on fringe science, but actually I enjoyed reading his theories and actually agree with everything he said, as I've had my own experiences and come up with the same kind of ideas. Good work Corey!

Genau wie mit seinem ersten Buch "The Seven Deadly Sins" hat Corey mich auch mit seinem neuen Werk "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Heaven" wieder restlos überzeugt! Der Mann versteht es einfach mit Worten umzugehen! Das Buch ist sehr unterhaltsam und teilweise ziemlich 'strange'... aber auch lustig. Den Mann muss man einfach lieben ;)

Another great book by the amazing Mr Corey Taylor. I just found this book to be really interesting content wise as I have a strong interest in the paranormal. But even if you're not into that stuff and think that it's all hornswaggle, I still think you could enjoy this. Corey's witty way of writing truly makes this an exciting read. His vivid retellings of all the paranormal phenomena he has seen and experienced will certainly draw in all your senses and leave you on the edge of your seat wondering if he's actually telling the truth. Then to top it all off he attempts to explain the possible existence of ghosts scientifically. Even if you don't agree with his theories you will still find that they are insightful and intriguing. This book was a great read and I personally couldn't put it down. I strongly recommend this to everyone because you might learn something, but I especially recommend it to those who liked Corey's first book 'Seven Deadly Sins'.
