Q: Which size would fit a 7 year old?

I am 5´3 and bought the small ones.

Q: How do you know what size to buy?

Best to find someone who has them already and hold your hand up to them. I find they run big (and if they are too big they put too much pressure on your shoulder/rotator cuff). I would say I have an average sized hand for a woman (I'm 5'8") and the Smalls were too big for me and I went with Xtra Smalls instead. Good luck, happy swimming!
