ZGCINER30 Wireless Charging Case for Rode Microphones Wireless GO 2 / Rode Microphones Wireless GO/Rode Wireless ME

The media could not be loaded.  I’ve been using the original Rode Wireless Go wireless lavalier microphone system for over 2 years for great audio quality for filming and recording with my various Canon DSLR/mirrorless cameras (Canon 90D/M50/R5) and Canon camcorders (XF400/G60) for creating online content for my YouTube channel. The Rode Go system is the bomb for extreme portability for its tiny size as evidenced by various other copy-cat imitators. In my opinion, none of the imitators come close to the quality and reliability of the Rode Wireless Go system. Well Rode company took it a huge step forward by coming out with version II of their now legendary Rode Wireless Go system. Version 2 of the Rode Go now offers a 2nd wireless transmitter plus the ability to record internally within each transmitter without the use of the receiver. That means you can mic up 2 different persons at the same time and have their audio simultaneously and wirelessly transmitted to the receiver connected to the camera. That’s great for say a wedding whereby both the bride and groom are giving their wedding vows at the altar and you want to clearly hear the audio from both the bride and groom together. However, as you can imagine, with the addition of the 2nd wireless transmitter, this also means one extra device for a total of 3 devices that need to be recharged when they go dead (2x transmitters plus 1x receiver). That typically means you need to have 3 separate USB cables plugged into a wall AC electricity outlet for charging all 3 items at the same time which is another hassle. Even using an external portable battery bank such as by Anker or RAVpower can be a hassle. I know this from experience because I have plenty of USB cables for all my electronics, plus assorted power bank chargers of all sizes ranging from 5k mAh to 40k mAh. In summary, this equals added weight and extra hassle. In comes the Zgcine Charging Case to the rescue! This unique and portable charger can simultaneously recharge all 3 Rode Wireless Go devices (2x transmitters & 1x receiver) at the same time without the hassle of USB cables plugged into each unit, nor the need for plugging into the wall AC electricity outlet. This Zgcine portable charger fits in the palm of my hand and is pretty lightweight and can easily pack into your camera bag or backpack without adding much noticeable weight. Simply insert all 3 Rode Go units into each slot inside the Zgcine charger, and a couple hours later, all 3 units will be fully charged to 100% life again! It’s really that simple, a total no-brainer charging device and doesn’t require any manual to figure out. Before being able to use the Zgcine charger for the first time, simply use the supplied USB cable to insert one end into the back of the charger, and the other end into a wall AC outlet to fully charge the device. From my real-world experience, it takes roughly a little over 2 hours for the charger to fully charge to 100% battery life showing 4 solid white color LED lights. In my timed tests using a stopwatch app, it took approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes using a regular cellphone brick charging unit plugged into a wall AC outlet. I’m guessing if I had used one of my more powerful smartphone charging bricks that offer higher charging watts that the Zgcine charger would probably fully charge up faster than 2 hours. But I’m also guessing that many (or most) consumers don’t want to spend extra for those pricey higher wattage charging bricks which can easily cost up to $50 for quicker charging. Unfortunately, Zgcine doesn’t supply any charging bricks in the box, only USB cables, so you will have to supply your own USB brick to charge the unit. But if you have a more powerful charging brick rated at higher watts, I would suggest to use that instead for faster recharging. Once the Zgcine charger is at full power, if you insert all 3 Rode units into the charger, it takes roughly about 2 hours for all devices to be fully charged to 100 percent battery life. I noticed that the receiver gets fully charged first, then a little while later one of the transmitters then goes to full charge, then later still the other transmitter gets fully charged. In other words, not all 3 Rode units get fully charged to 100 percent at the same time. Instead, each unit gets fully charged one at a time which takes roughly a little over 2 hours for this process to be completed for all 3 Rode units to reach 100% battery life. I don’t know why the Zgcine charger won’t charge all 3 devices to 100% at the same time, that would be ideal. I’ve done this charging test a few times and I can tell you this has been my experience. Once all 3 Rode devices get to 100% full charge, I also notice the Zgcine charger goes from 4 white LED lights of full charge down to 2 LED lights. This would indicate that roughly 50% of the battery life is left for the Zgcine charger to be used again for additional recharging of the Rode Go units. I’m guessing if you only have the original Rode Wireless Go with only 1 transmitter and 1 receiver, then the Zgcine charger would probably have more than 2 LED lights left after fully recharging the 2 units. But since the Rode Wireless Go version 2 has a total of 3 devices, this eats up more of the battery life from the Zgcine charger. So your mileage will probably vary depending on whether you are recharging 2 or 3 total devices for either the Rode Go I or Rode Go II model. The Amazon price for this Zgcine charger is about $50. In the box, you also get a nice carry pouch to hold the Zgcine charger which is a nice touch. I seem to recall that I paid a little bit less with a coupon code at the time. Do I feel that the $50 price tag is worth it for this charging device? Well, that depends. Is convenience and portability something that you place a value on? Do you routinely do on-location recording outside where you don’t have access to electricity? Do you place a value for not having to lug around a 2 pound Anker or RAVpower battery bank? If all of these variables strike a nerve with you, then yes, the $50 price tag is the price of admission for convenience and portability so you can recharge your Rode Wireless Go units at least a couple times when you are on-location in the boondocks in the middle of nowhere. Having dead batteries on the Rode Go units gives you that sinking feeling, especially when you know you need to film and record for many more hours. Not being able to find all the appropriate USB cables to be able to recharge all those Rode units is simply frustrating. If you can order the Zgcine charger when Amazon offers a discount coupon code, that’s an even better deal. Overall, with everything considered, I give this Zgcine charging device 5 stars for portability, ease of use, and a rather clever design that gets the job done without fussing around. I realized that when recording at a live event- I needed separate mics! So I discovered the Rode Wireless GO, just as the second series was released, Wireless GO II. What an improvement that was! The GO II comes with 2 transmitters plus a receiver and comes with USB-C cords to charge but does not come with any adapters. When it's time to charge, I can only connect 1 on my laptop and I have to use other adapters in a wall or surge protector to charge the devices. This leaves my equipment scattered around my studio-and I don't like clutter.Enter this Rode Wireless GO charging case.Not only has this charging case reduced my need for all the cables and outlets for charging scattered about but I have a portable charger no matter where I go, even if I don't have access to an outlet. I was surprised to discover that the charging unit actually holds its own charge. So I can charge at home and take it to go. If the battery runs down, it charges without plugging up. I thought I was just losing a few cables and am happy to discover more.It shows the battery levels so you always know your status. And the charging case itself holds a charge very long. Since I have charged it in February, the battery hasn't run down yet. So at rest, you are not steadily losing juice at a fast rate, which I love! It comes with a bag that makes it easy to protect while traveling and not to lose the accessory (charging cord).Anybody who invests in a Rode Wireless Go II, should definitely get this charging case. And the price is great so there's no excuse...:)

This case is a product I really wanted to love. So far, I find it close but not perfect. First I'll talk about this product as a charger. It's perfect as a charger. I have no problems with this as a multi-charger. The built in battery has a large enough capacity to full re-charge all of my Rode Wireless Go II TX and RX more than twice. It also has a USB-A out for charging other times besides this charge and that works great too! I had no problems with the plug/port quality at all. Everything feels sturdy. The Wireless go's fit snug into their slot and charge quickly which I appreciate. A simple double-tap of the single button on the front of the charging unit and it turns off so it can be stored. It seems to hold it's charge quite well when it's off (though I've only had it a week). So as a charger, I'll certainly be using this often. It keeps my desk cleaner as I can now use only the single USB-C cable (included and is nice quality) then use this as a dock to charge all three units.As a case, this unit begins to show its shortcomings. I was impressed with the build at first. It has a satisfying magnetic snap shut. It's made of sturdy but lightweight plastic which is nice for transport. The lid is not satisfying to open however. If you push it open with one finger, the plastic on the back next to the hinge snags making it feel cheaply made. Then, if you have the Wireless go's inside the case, the lid will not shut all the way, and it hits the corner of the middle transmitter on its way open and closed. You can see that there is not enough room for the wireless go's by the fact that there is an imprint of the unit pressed into the foam inside the lid. Because of the magnet, the lid does stay (almost) shut but this is a simple oversight that should have been caught in production. Also, since the unit turns on by a single button press, it nearly always turns on when it's in a bag in transport, running down the battery even if my go's are already fully charged. These are simple problems, and each of the four issues alone would not knock much off the total score, but all those problems taken into account, makes this case short of a 5-Star item. It's honestly a 3.5 star but since the charger works great and does minimal damage to my go units, i'm ok rounding up to 4-stars. I think if this unit had been tested at all, these problems could have been resolved quite easily. If this was advertised as a multi-charger, that I just chose to travel with, then fine. But since it's advertised as a charging "case," and it's sold for $50+, it cannot be given top scores. It'll be earning a spot on my charging desk but will not be traveling with me.

I picked up this charging case for my Rode Wireless Go 2 System in an effort to charge up the transmitters and receiver more efficiently. I have a YouTube channel where I explore campgrounds and camp in a travel trailer. I bring along my camera equipment and my laptop and do almost all of my production from the campsite. I used to charge up the transmitters and receiver one at a time with the one spare USB port left on my laptop. It wasn’t very efficient and required a fairly long charge time for all 3 units. I saw that DJI recently came out with their new wireless microphone kit that includes a charging case. Rode doesn’t provide a charging case but the ZGCINE case fixes that. The ZGCINE case is even better than the included DJI case as it’s 3400 mAh as opposed to the DJI case that is 2600 mAh. That means you can charge up the Rode system 3 times whereas you can only charge the DJI system twice.I like the feel of the case and how well the transmitters and receiver fit snuggly inside. It is clearly marked inside the case with a TX, TX, RX so that you know where each transmitter and the receiver goes. I read some reviews where they said that the case didn’t close properly with the devices in to charge, but I didn’t find that at all. It’s a perfect fit. When putting in the transmitters and receiver, they automatically power on to charge and the case powers on with lights on the front to show how much battery power is left in the case. Once the items are done charging they still stay on and the case stays on so you need to check on it periodically and when you see they are charged, turn the case off by pressing the power button twice and the case as well as the transmitters and receiver will turn off. The case can then be used to safely store the Rode system until needed.I am often recording video away from a power source for a long time during the day when hiking, cycling or kayaking. Having this charging case with me, being able to charge the Rode System as well as topping up my cell phone and GoPro is invaluable. I’ve only had it for a short time but it feels solid and well built. We’ll see how well it holds up.I would give it 4.5 stars instead of 5 because I wish it would turn it self off once all the devices are charged. There are no half stars allowed so I'm rounding up to 5.

Great concept, saves me from charging my mics all individually which can be a pain!However my unit has stopped charging properly which resulted in me going to shoots with 1 mic dead.Tried lots of different plugs and USB cables but it literally shows as charging then stops itself…

Firstly I was so happy when I saw this product this product is the major difference between DJI new mic and Rode mic that it had a charger. Now finally I can also charge all 3 things at the same time without a hassle of multiple wires.

The idea of this case is great, 5 stars. I have to give it 4 because the makers of this piece of gear just missed making it more functional. The 3 pieces that go into them do not function completely by themselves. A small area to hold the camera cable would have been nice and possibly the wind screens. I have made them fit (see photo). The build quality is fine though the plastic hinges worry me long term.Over all a great product that could have been perfect.
