The best unmanaged, fanless, 10G switch
I recently upgraded my house to 10G ethernet, and it was really difficult to find a simple and silent 10G switch. Most of the 10G switches are managed, or they run hot, and need fans to cool them. I just wanted a simple fanless switch that was speedy and reliable. After much searching, I finally found the TP-Link TL-SX105 5-port switch. It's exactly what I needed, and it's fast and reliable. Pros: • Fast • Silent • Reasonably cool • Simple and unmanaged • Pretty small • I like how the status lights work Cons: • I wish there was an 8-port version that was fanless. • It takes about 20 seconds to boot up. So if you're looking for a fast, reliable, fanless, unmanged 5-port switch, this is a great one to get!

Great but does get hot
Solid and works well. Instructions and labels could be better. Does run hot if sat on a desk.

TL-SX105 V2 - 3 months and then failed
Product was working with Synology NAS 10G for 3 months and suddenly failed. Power light remains on, but there is no longer any port activity. Contacting Tp-Link, but there appears to be an issue with serial number on unit. Purchased through Amazon TELeasy, who happens not to be on the TP-Link of AMAZON retailers? Not sure if that is important yet, will update when TP-Link contacts me.

Failed
Updated 11/21/2022 Original review Purchased 02/14/2022 failed 11/04/2022 Clearly inferior product. Also already RMA'd an 8 port 2.5g hub 4 months ago purchased about the same time. There is a design flaw or have defective electronic components inside. Added 11/21/2022 So TP-Link will not honor warranty on products purchased from non authorized distributors/resellers. Mine came from TELeasy, so I'm out of luck. BUYER BEWARE! Be sure to check WHERE your product is sourced. Check TP-Link website for authorized distributors/resellers. None of the vendors I've seen here are on the lists, except Amazon.com Services LLC. I purchased 6 TP-Link switches, various models, all 2.5g or higher. 3 from Amazon, 3 from "other" vendors. Lesson learned. This likely applies to a large portion of products sold on Amazon from secondary vendors. Also, to the reviewers saying mounting these (fanless) on their sides with vents on top/bottom and the rubber feet for space. This will help with heat dissipation, but probably not enough. See pic. I added these fans AFTER first failure of 8 port 2.5g unit, for the 5 port 10g unit. 10g unit still failed. Was it a heat related failure? Can't say for sure, but both failed overnight. Woke up to no internet on both. Like I said in first review, I believe these units fail due to inferior internal components. These switches are plugged into the same outlet as my ASUS AX6000 WiFi 6 Gaming Router (RT-AX89X), My Motorola cable modem and Synergy NAS's. All working perfectly fine. Also have never had ANY network switches completely fail in 20 years of home networking. Always used Dlink and Netgear. Yes, I was beating the odds. Given the failure rate just from reviews here on Amazon, these TP-Link units are NOT worth the price.

Didn't last long
When I first got it, it worked great, served the purpose I needed without having to redo my rack with SFP+. But now after a few months, the switch is dead, powers on but does not function. None of the devices detect the ethernet connected. Tried the basic troubleshooting, reboot, long power cycle. Still nothing. Looks like I will have to upgrade to SFP+/optical anyways.

One of the cheapest name-brand 10GbE all-port switches, but runs hot
So far this switch is functioning well, and it's from a brand that I know and trust (relative to all the really cheap unknown brands). That being said it runs really hot, even when not stressed with network activity, to the point that I'm both worried about my energy bill and the longevity. Don't run this in an enclosed space. Had I been aware of this, I would have tried something else.

Fantastic switch, getting a full 10 gig on all ports. Arrived within time. Gets warm to the touch after a few minutes, but put a old hard drive on it which acts as a heat sink. So running cool now. But, mains power adaptor is a US plug. So had to buy a UK converter to get it to work.

This was supplied with a US plug but I’m in the UK so had to purchase a separate transformer. The product is excellent and easy to set up apart from this.

Who are getting the switch I was not getting my full internet speed that I have. I had a 10 gigabit network card but what I was paying for for internet speed I was getting below what I was supposed to get. But after getting this 10 gigabit switch which paired great with my 10 gigabit network card I was getting my full speed for my internet. I wish I had bought this a long time ago. Highly recommend it. If you have internet speeds that are one and a half gig then this is your switch.

I initially purchased another brand and looked to replace them because they were so loud and noisy…. But these are fanless, passively cooled, silent and yet still deliver the full 10g speed… absolutely perfect.

Product itself is simple, sturdy, and does what it says. Unlike some other switches I have seen it has clear indicators (lights) showing link activity and all speeds. The case is sturdy and fanless; latter is unusual for a 10Gbps switch. BUT: no rubber feet (easy to fix, but odd for a “desktop” switch); no grounding point.
