Nice Hibernate application with reasonable documentation.
The code compiles, test cases pass, and application runs with Java 8. No tweaks needed for the latest versions of the technologies. After initial discussion on couple of chapter, the code is self explanatory, with the book to refer to for any conceptual clarification. The core objectives of the demo application are basically as summarized in the book title. The reading experience may be different if you are just reading the book without playing with the code.

This book assumed that users have a really good background in data-driven development
This book assumed that users have a really good background in data-driven development. The illustration of examples is not in-detail and kind of hard to follow.

Awful book, not recommended
I bought this book after hearing from it in a promo the writer made in Coderanch forums, and thought the topics the writer announced that were in the book were interesting. Silly me.The book is huge and very long, but that's only because its full of source code.Every chapter is always the same: "Now we will do this, and then that". After this short introduction that explains barely nothing, you are thrown into pages and pages of html code that can just be downloaded and that should not be in the book just to make it look like if it has a lot of content.I did not learn data modeling, or Spring or Agile. The only useful thing might be the Hibernate mappings, that's all.I could no even finish the book since it felt very tedious and hard to follow. It's obvious that this book was just put together very quickly, without reviewing the final result. And I paid 50$ for it :D

Clear and Informative Workbook
Clear and informative with detailed example project. As an experienced Java developer I was able to build on my existing knowledge to get to grips with the technologies in a practical context. I liked the large format of the book. It made it easier to go through the details with the book open and trying the examples on the computer. I did notice a few minor typos, but these did not spoil the content as it is a technical manual rather than a story. I would highly recommend this book for someone who is an experienced Java developer who wants a practical in depth introduction to Spring Hibernate etc. I found it was not enough to simply read the book. To make the information really stick I needed to type in the code and execute it in my environment. At that point, issues with the environment would inevitably occur and solving those issues enabled my deeper understanding of the tools used. I would suggest that a beginner programmer starts with something simpler.

Excelente producto
El contenido es genial para los que disfrutamos de la programación, los ejemplos son de 10, el código es muy claro y la integración de frameworks es muy explicita, los ejemplos y explicaciones amplian el contexto del libro, genial.

Jack of all, not worth
This book is not up to the mark, filled with some code snippets and enlarged font. Not worth for money.
