Schitt Loki—Improves Audio for Your Ears
I added this equalizer to my DAC and headphone amp. I have old ears that went to too many rock concerts and night clubs, so, when I use my headphones, I need to adjust for the deficiencies in my hearing; this equalizer does that very well, and it can improve, for any ears, the sound quality of some recordings. One of this EQ's convenient features is the bypass switch, by which you can turn off the equalizer so that the audio signal moves on to your speakers or headphones without EQ adjustments. Schitt makes handsome, effective, high-quality audio gear.

Perfect for small tube amp set up.
Place between your music source and the amplifier. You will be surprised at the increased quality and separation of the music.I have this paired with an Aiyima T9 Pro and 2 Polk T15 bookshelf speakers. I was waiting to get a sub on sale, but now seriously wonder if it is needed. The bass is rich and distinct and smooth jazz is real clean. I may borrow a sub just to see if there is a difference.

Beginner EQ?
This review will be based on my experience with the following stack, The Schiit Modi & Magni. I also tested it with an XDuoo TA-20 Tube amp. Headphones/IEMs used: HD 6xx, HD 600, Meze 109 Pro, U12T.First and foremost, I am not the most skilled at picking apart the finest of details between amps/dacs, and this review is mostly for people who are brand new to this hobby. The Schiit Loki Mini + is a great addition to your Schiit stack.Turning either of the 4 band knobs, you could easily turn up Bass, Midbass, Mid Range, and Treble. (Exactly in that order from left knob to right knob.) The knobs themselves turn (both left only about 90-120 degrees, so even if they do feel premium, there isn't much adjustment to any of the frequencies to really create the eq profile I truly crave. It has a bypass switch, so you can also disable/enable the EQ. The build quality is great.I only used it for a brief 20 minutes with the tube amp, because I noticed when adjusting the bands, almost nothing in sound changed, so I thought it was pointless to keep trying to find the smallest details. I would only recommend using the Loki with other Schiit products. (I'm not too experienced with this, so maybe it may work with other dac/amps more efficiently.)For 150-200$ I wouldn't say its worth it. After 6 months of use, I only really did use the Loki for either bass adjustment for music, and treble adjustment for games (footsteps). And even when I did use it, the EQ isn't as noticeable as other devices I've tested. I would much rather just save the money and continue using the basic Schiit stack.***Final thoughts:If you're adding this to your Modi/Magni stack, For 150-200$ I don't think you're getting that much out of this, and this or the Lokius are pretty much your only options. I recently bought a Qudelix 5k, and sure the sample rate might be a bit lower than my Modi or RME, but for 110$ you get 10 bands of Parametric EQ, saved EQ presets, and a balanced port. In terms of budget audiophile, there a definitely better ways to go.I'd also say to go check out EQ software like Equalizer APO.I'm currently using an RME ADI-2 FS, Singxser SA-1, and XDuoo TA-20 for my desktop if anyone cares.

Runs very hot
Sounds good but runs very hot. It’s on the tv stand top shelf and has enough air around it.

Perfect Simplicity
I use this as an equalizer with my turntable pre-amp. It works great if you like to get the sound you want by the simple turn of a knob. I personally love this little device.

Great equalizer for improved sound quality
I ordered this to go along with my Schiit Magi and Modi stack. It looks great and gives me the options to EQ my music or meetings on the fly.I was using a software-based EQ before but this is just easier to use than clicking and dragging sliders.I would recommend this to anyone who wants to season their sound to their liking.

Cheap. Not in a good way.
First, the most important thing is sound - how does it perform? It performs "Ok", meaning there's a low noise floor and it seems to do the job of +/- 12db attenuation across the frequency bands. Is it worth the price? Let's go to the build. This feels, and operates "cheap" - not what you'd expect from a company that boasts about being "Made in the USA". I had to return my first order because the rightmost knob was basically stuck, rubbing against the plastic frame. At this price I'd expect some quality control because as far as being "cheap" for the money, it's not worth the price, the price is way more expensive than the build. Finally, talking about price I find it odd that I have to pay $40 USD more buying it from Amazon vs. buying directly from Schiit's website. That's just not right, and the seller was SchiitAudio so I'd imagine this is directly from Schiit but they're overcharging you on Amazon.

Dead in a year, Schitt Gear Earns its Name for Quality
The Loki seemed like a great addition to my system—a simple, analog tone control with a clean signal path. When it worked, it did the job well, offering a subtle but useful way to tweak the sound. However, it completely died after about a year of light use. I literally set and forget it, then one day my system isn't playing. I flip the EQ switch to flat and it works, in EQ mode...nothing. No warning signs, no abuse—just failure.I also have a Freya + preamp I bought at the same time that failed in anything but pass through mode about 3 months earlier so I guess this was to be expected. For reference I have a 15 year old Marantz AVR and matching Blu Ray player that work fine, and a 62 year old Scott tube amp with the same tubes it left the factory with in 1963. This is just poor quality for the aptly named, Schitt gear.
