Great Little Set
Very cute set up. The goggles are cute for the kids. The chemicals though must have gotten too much moisture somehow and they are rock hard in the bottles. I have to find a hammer and small nail to break it apart to mix with the coloring powder. Everything else works great. The reaction is really neat looking, kids love it.

Fun and occupies kids time!!
great gift! Great value!! and easy to use but definitely messy. I just cut a brown garbage bag and opened it entirely on the table. She didn’t smash it, but was gentler. I could see kids smashing it though, and then pieces will fly. Otherwise, my daughter loved it.

Fun for 6 to 8 year olds or even 9.
I bought this product as a birthday gift for my grandson. He just turned 8. He loved it. It's not real easy to dig out the gem. It takes time and patience, but when the gem is exposed and removed, it's awesome!!

Good one
Liked doing the experiment with my kiddo . Good and fun way to teach the kids about volcanoes as they get to do the experiment .

Electrical tower wires break in 10 sec. of use. Add alligator clips.
The solder connection on the electrical tower brakes in 10 seconds of use. No joke. The holes in the Electrodes are quite small 2 feed wire through. Either make the electrodes a little bit larger so you can have a larger diameter hole or better yet, attach small alligator clips to wires. Otherwise OK and my students enjoyed it

Provides Hours Of Entertainment! Make Sure To Wet Them First
This Gem Dig Kit is SO much fun and actually keeps my toddler busy and holds her interest for a really long time! I expected her to do one of these and get bored/fed up halfway through but we did 4 in a row and she would have done even more if I let her! She loved uncovering the gems and then matching them up to the cards and stickers. The cards have the picture of the gems on one side and information about them on the other so she cops learn a bit about them.It comes in a nice box with all of the necessary tools for excavating the gems: 2 chisels, 2 mallets, 2 brushes and a magnifying glass for studying them afterwards. Also included are clear plastic stands so you can proudly display your gems. The blocks that the gems are set in are quite dusty, can stain your hands (temporarily) and also create a bit of a mess but they are definitely well worth it. I have been using a cardboard tray that came with some instant noodles to keep the mess slightly more contained but you could also use a box, an old container/bin or lay out newspaper or plastic sheets first. Weather permitting, you could even take them outside!I HIGHLY suggest running them under water first which not only keeps the dust down, but also makes them a little softer so they are easier to break apart. I keep a little container of water next to us when we are doing to periodically pour some over the drier parts underneath.Overall, I am thrilled with this kit and wouldn’t hesitate to buy another set in the future. It’s a very fun and easy way to keep my daughter entertained and I like that she is developing her fine motor skills while learning something in the process. Highly recommend!!

All kits seem to be the same, but fun. I really enjoyed it.
I was excited to try it. I had gotten one that was exactly the same previously but thought it would be different. I like spending time on things like this, plus I like to collect crystals. So I figured if they were the same then I would get to see the difference in quality of the two with the gems. My first box had an extra amethyst. The collection has a lot of items to help dig out the gems. I still found it hard to hammer, chisel and dig though and my hands ended up hurting with the tools digging into them while I dug into them. Wetting them made it a lot easier to do since they are like chalk. It would break up in chunks around the gem and make it way less messy, because it is VERY messy. So if you wanted to go faster and cleaner, that would be the way to go. A nail hammer would also work, but you could potentially damage the gems.I got all of the gems shown on the box. My alabaster in this box looks better than the first I got. The colours like topaz, rose quartz, jade and aventurine were very muted compared to what was shown on the box. I could hardly tell the difference between clear and rose quartz. The jade and aventurine were a little easier to see than in the last box. Those few things made it a little disappointing but it was still fun.All in all I had a few days of fun with it. I think it would make a GREAT gift for kids...and adults. It seems like most kits are all the same, made and sold in bulk and the company puts their own brand on it.

Awesome Gem Digging Activity
This is an awesome, educational activity. Each kit comes with 12 gems very nicely packaged and presented, in a totally giftable box. The kit also comes with various basic tools, including a chisel, mallet, brush and magnifying glass. It also has clear display stands and label stickers showcasing each dug-up treasure. The gems are encased in a plaster-type material that is pretty easy for most kids to dig through. It does make a bit of a mess, so it's best to do it on a large table with some paper underneath. I like that the kit comes with informative instructions on effective digging and cleaning techniques. The gems are a good size so they can be examined closely. They cover a good range of common and less common gems. In terms of quality, these are not jewelry grade so they do have a large number of occlusions, scratches and more. But this is what one would expect to find most commonly in the field. They are already polished, which is nice. Overall, this is a good quality gem digging set that will be engaging and fun for kids. Full marks from me!

Tons of fun, lots of educational value
We love learning based toys, toys that get kids to learn something new while playing and getting hands on. This is a fantastic Geology science based kit and wonderful learning experience. This set came with everything shown in the listing photographs, 12 cubes to dig gems from. The first one we used was one of the purple cubes and it had a diamond and gem inside. The material used to dig is a bit hard to dig in, but we have experienced that with other gem kits that we have tried in the past as well. So it may take a little patience for little ones to dig through to find the treasures inside. The set comes with information cards so you can match up your newly found gems to the card and learn about the gems. The little pyramid shaped pillars are great for displaying the gems.Over all as a hands on and learning toy this gets 5 stars from us, lots of educational value along with tons of fun.
