How large is this when it first arrives? I need to travel by plane out of the country with it and I want to see how well it will fit into a suitcase.

It's big enough for a 12" baby doll; sturdy and cute. It should fit in your suitecase just fine because it arrive flat. Hope this helps (won't fit in a "carry on suit case though).
