Good, light, true 2.1 tires.
Good description and image. Good, light, true 2.1 tires. I gave it a four star due to the tire compoud being too soft. It's not a good rear tire if you like to break hard and slide. (I would get the continental traffic for rears if you like a harder compound. Look for my review there.) It's a awesome front tire though. Both the continental traffic and the schwalbe black jack has center knobs that are close and is good for the pavement and compact dirt. Hope this helps

mounting this tire is very easy. much easier then what i was used to ...
where i live, there is not a bike shop, and had to resort to buying bike tires from one of the large chain stores. none of these tires ever lasted more then 400-500 miles and then i would buy new ones. after reading a number of reviews, here and other places, i settled on the black jack tire. the original tire size on my bike was 26x1.95, and the black jack i ordered was 29x1.90. i did not want to deal with rubbing on the tire forks if i went with a wider tire. there are a few things you should know about this tire before you order them, based on what i have seen so far.first, they are directional, so take care when you mount them so they are right, BUT, mounting this tire is very easy. much easier then what i was used to out of any bike tire i have ever mounted. This tire grips the road whether turning, or going flat out, and rolls very easy compared to what i was used to, but i must admit, they do make a little more road noise then what i am used to at speeds over 20MPH. it isnt obnoxious, but you can hear it. will they last as long as some others have said? i dont know. but after 450 miles of riding, they show ZERO wear so i know they will hit at least 2000 miles for sure, except for something major happening. they roll right over rocks and even the broken glass one morning with ease, so i am sure they will last a while. one thing not in any picture is the fact that the schwalbe name is on the side of the tire in white letters, but i like it, this is just more of a heads up then anythings else.schwalbe is the only bike tire i will ever buy again for me or my wifes bike. i might not always order this tread, but i will only get a schwalbe

Best All-Surface 24" MTB Tire for the Money
Let’s face it, options are slim in 24” & prices don’t get cheaper. Background: Bike nut w/ 3 kids, ridin’ since ‘69 on a budget—who isn’t? Needed wider, aggressive, deeper tread than OEM Specialized Fast Trak 24”x1.80” tires on kid’s 13.5” Hotrock. The Black Jacks have a a center tread for pavement to hard pack, surrounded by heavily siped deep knobbies for sandy, loamy, loose rock. The sidewalls are reminiscent of old school balloon beach cruiser tires. These certainly improve the bikes comfort, handling & flickability. These Black Jacks meet my expectations of design & economy. Bike shops either had NO stock or 1 option in 24”. I tried going LOCAL! Almost bought Bontrager Connection Trail 2.0”, but they seem for paved to light trail. Bontrager XR1’s are $10 more & no better IMO.Why I buy Schwalbe Black Jacks from Bikewagon: Best price, packed RIGHT, boxed not folded. These are beaded tires--not folded. Beaded tires are best. Folder’s one advantage is when you need to pack a spare on a long trek. Durability opinion will post later.Comparative SPECS:Specialized Fast Trak 1.80” Actual width: 1 11/16”@38psi (too thin for technical surfaces)Schwalbe Black Jack 2.1” Actual width: 2”@38psi (just right for this bike)Black Jacks: give you aprox 5/8” more patch on the ground!Specialized Fast Trak height: 23 5/8”, weight: 1.054lb(worn out)Schwalbe Black Jack height: 24 3/4”, weight: 1.592Black Jacks are: 1 1/8” taller sidewall!!Most important, looks—My mild 12y/o daughter said, “They look soo much better than the old ones.”

Hard to install, but once "on" - it's amazing!!!
I installed a shed load of bicycle tires - but this one, was the hardest (by far) to get onto rim, without pinching the tube! Took me multible tries and three inner tubes! Once installed, it's actually amazing on my daily commuter bike!!!

Dealing with a very wide tire.
I recently bought the 2.25" size which is the maximum for 26". I want a good tire for the soft sand you find sometimes in Florida. So I tried larger and larger and it got better. When I got to the 2.1" size I found that the tire had to be deflated to about 15 psi to get the wheel on or off the bike. That is, of course I unhooked the brake caliper so the pads moved apart, but that was not enough. My bike was engineered to barely take this size. Still, the farthest corners of the tread on one edge at the back would rub the frame once every rotation. I wrapped and taped sandpaper around the frame and in about 4 miles I go 0.5mm more clearance which solved that. The I found braking was odd. I finally figured that the brake caliper's arms were hugging the sides of the tire. I will need fresh brake pads or some washers as spacers. So if you're trying the maximum width expect some problems -- or anticipate it may be impossible to fit it on your bike.

Good value, light and grippy
Got the 24x2.1 tires for my kids' mountain bikes. Much lighter than what they had. Great grip off road, center row of knobs provides smooth rolling on pavement. Rubber compound is soft, providing great grip but I suspect they will wear a little quicker than some others. The added traction was notable off road and provided my boys with added confidence immediately. The reduced weight was noticed with better acceleration. They were slow to arrive but great value. Would probably recommend the 1.9 option if you are not riding trails, running the 2.1 up front and the 1.9 in back would be a good option for trails too.

Amazing tires for the price!
I wanted to replace the tires on our youngest kiddo's bike without breaking the bank as we will sell the bike in the next year or so. These tires fit perfect and were certainly an upgrade for off the road performance over the stock tires on the Trek. The tires have only been on for a few days so I will report back with any issues. Also, they are a beaded tire and came in a large package so they were not folded up. To note, when I pulled them out, I wondered if they would fit. After making sure they were properly set on the wheel (slightly inflate the tube when installing) the final air up went perfect!

Very very Good Despite Low Price.
I have probably done 200 km on these with no punctures. Mainly forestry road crushed stone but did about 30km of really demanding poorer grade boulder/sharp stone/sand/gravel above Loch Rannoch without a hitch during this extremely dry summer. Surprising little wear is apparent and I think the kevlar strip probably does the business unless I have been very lucky. My pair were medium tread and you experience less traction on loose surfaces but the rolling resistance (and roar) drops like a stone when riding on tarmac. So these would be especially good for road and light track use. Cannot fault them but may decide to go for a "knobblier" version for Scotland's monsoon season - generally October to October in the past!

Great Tyre
I wanted to upgrade my rear tyre to something a bit wider with more grip for slippery trails and took a chance on this as it was a good price. So far its been great and has significantly improved the grip, particularly on the side wall where for cornering or on slopes I lost grip and slipped in the past, now I feel the wheel start to go and suddenly the grips kicks in and I don't lose it. Really pleased with the tyre.

Black Circles
After getting alot of punctures on my previous set of tyres I realised it was time for some new boots for the bike.I ordered these and was pleasantly surprised, well packaged and in great condition, the metal bands although heavier located the tyres on the rims ok and they were very quick to fit with slime inner tubes.Plenty of tread on the tyres and a good compromised between off and on road, has taken a couple of rides to get the sheen off the tyres, not sure if its a releasing compound but they ride really well, quiet and a decent resistance and grip. Good value and no punctures yet.

looks nice not grippy tho
Been using these new tires for some time now given I use my bike a lot of the time I noticed the grip of the tires being terrible I slide about a lot not really safe for sudden breaking or unlevel ground at all you can really feel the lack of the grip while riding. The look of the tires aren't too bad, fitting isn't too difficult just make sure you read the instructions first before fitting the tire the correct way, as for price I suppose its not too bad other than the fact its not a grippy tire but does for the job for casual rides.Edit: Only lasts about 4 months tires are not worth the buy at all split easily grips horrid might as well have nothing on the tire at all AVOID
