AEG Whirling Witchcraft | Use Recipes, Generate Magical Ingredients & Overflow Opponent's Cauldron | Halloween Board Game | 2-5 Players | Ages 10+

My wife and I play tons of board games and we’re always looking for new additions to our library. We’ve had good luck with AEG games, so I took a chance on this one. And I’m glad I did! The instructions aren’t super clear, so we didn’t understand how to play correctly, and our first playthrough was painfully tedious. I almost gave up! But then watched an online video, learned how to play properly, and now we LOVE it and play constantly. Pros: -Fun and addicting “engine building” mechanics (once you actually learn them!) -Charming artwork -A variety of “witches” to choose from provides strategy and replay-ability. Cons: - Instructions aren’t super clear - The cardboard cauldrons are gimmicky and make the game’s box much larger than it should be. They could have just used plastic trays or small cups to save space. The cauldrons DO add to the aesthetic and theme, they’re just not very practical. - The Arcana mechanic feels half-baked. The provided tracker could be better (it’s just a card with #’s 1-6). Players keep forgetting what each Arcana does, and they have to look at the manual for a reminder, so it would have been nice to print that on the actual Arcana tracker for easy reference. NOTE: the AEG website DOES offer a downloadable Arcana “cheat sheet”, so this must be a common complaint. But it feels chinsy to print this on printer paper while the other materials are on nice card stock. Redesigning this would resolve 99% of my frustrations. - With all the little “ingredient” cubes on the table, it can get messy. It would have been nice to include little trays for each color to help keep them organized (like Pandemic). -with a higher player count, you can run out of “ingredient” cubes, so it would be nice to have more included. All my complaints are related to “quality of life” improvements, rather than the gameplay itself. We love this game and it’s now in constant rotation at our household. Whether you play 1 on 1, or as a group of 5, the game offers a fun, rewarding and challenging experience each time. It typically takes no longer than 20-30 minutes to play a game, so you can easily play several rounds in an evening. I highly recommend this great game.

I saw this game reviewed on a utube gamers site. Thought I would give it a try for me and the kids. Do not let the corny cover and title fool you! This is really an introspective and entertaining game! Box says ages 14 on up but my 10 year old twins love it too. Strongly recommend as a family game or with friends. People will go in expecting nothing and come away surprised!

A very fun game! It is very easy to learn after one playthrough and the design is really fun. There are multiple different characters to play through, which means you can try different strategies each time you play.

I saw this game on TikTok at 2am and instantly bought it. The illustrations are super cute, the rules and gameplay are very very easy to understand. I absolutely love this game because it's always different every round & every time you play it. Nearly impossible to get board of. I've had it for a few weeks now & my friends and I play it at least 3 times a week for multiple rounds. I highly recommended this game!

If you love group games, this is a good choice. I originally played this at my parents house and had to buy my own copy. Rules are pretty simple and everyone gets a cool cauldron. I'd definitely recommend it. You are a witch and you use your ingredients (small colored cubes) from your work bench for spells. Your workbench has a specific amount of spots. Try to fill up another person's work bench so it overflows.

Got this as a Christmas present for my mom. It took us a little bit to grasp the rules/instructions, but now that we understand it 100% it is SOOO FUN! I ended up buying one for myself. And my brother got it for his family too because they like it so much. Highly recommend! On my birthday I wanted to play it and I think we played like 8 games in a row 😆

This game is super fun and easy to play! Once everyone gets the hang of the game it is super easy and fun! Definitely a must have game for family gatherings, or even just with friends.

Best game I’ve played in a while! Action all happens at once so no long waits for other team members, and just the right amount of strategy with out being over kill on the number of pieces. Good intro game to styles with lots of pieces

It's super addicting in my opinion. We started playing this game at 11pm and when we checked the time it was 3am. I think if you enjoy The Quacks of Quedlinburg then you might like this game too! The Art style is super pretty and I love the different witches you can play as so there's definitely some variety when playing this for hours like we did!

Fantastic game, easy to learn but has great additions and can get very tactical. Good fun!
