Saves a bunch and is easy to install
My installation was a little different than the normal hookup since I wanted to do four things: 1) tow a small trailer w/o brakes, 2) be able to tow a trailer with brakes using a brake controller, 3) provide power to operate a macerater pump for transferring black water, and 4) provide power to operate a power lift to help load and unload the back of the minivan. Therefore, I needed a little heavier wire to the back of the minivan, but otherwise the hookup was the same. The only thing I did differently than suggested in the package was to mount the plugs on the bumper rather than on the hitch - that was a mistake, since the angle bracket has taken some damage that it would not have experienced had it been attached to the hitch. My requirements 1) and 2) were very well taken care of by the adapter package. I run a separate black wire for ground rather than use the frame of the vehicle and, like I said, due to my load requirements, I needed heavier wire. I used the black wire from the adapter as my 'blue' wire for the electric brake support. Unfortunately, my macerater pump uses the center wire (the one marked backup lights - purple) as an auxiliary power. If I get time, I will switch that to use the black wire (aux) which seems to be more suitable, but for now that is is how it is.The heaviest user of power is the power lift. It uses 30 amps of 12 vdc, so the wires (red for positive and black for negative battery were run to it first and then T'd to the other operations (one for the power brakes (2) and one for the macerater (3). Since the lift does not operate during travel and would not be in use while the macerater is running, the power is shared among them as well as the lights for the trailers (both 1) and 2) ). I had installed the standard 4-wire small trailer package which is a prerequisite for this product's installation. It all works like a charm.

Good and sturdy
Yep this is a good product. Go ahead and save yourself the headache and buy a brake controller right now. I should have purchased the 79.99 brake controller when I ordered this connector and in the pinch of the moment I then had to buy the exact same brake controller for 126.xx in a store to get the job done. Save yourself that 46 dollars and order a brake controller, in that regard, I would recommend a brake controller that has the custom pinch feature to truly control the trailer. The rig that I just set-up was a 2004 f250 v10 and the trailer I'm preparing is a large 27 foot puma camper with bunks. This was a good 7 pin connector, plenty of wire and very easy to install in your factory spot. Sturdy aswell, NOT chinsy.

Great All-In-One Solution
I have purchased several of these little guys for the purpose of installing them on all of my tow-capable vehicles. They work great, and do include all of the necessary hardware and bracketry to mount onto a vehicle. I wish they came with heat shrink butt connectors, but my guess is that request would drive the price up. All of the contact surfaces were clean and corrosion free. The rear of the round connector appears to be water tight and durable. The copper wiring meets all of the AWG specs for the application it is designed for. I did use this in conjunction with a Reese Towpower 74643 Brakeman Digital Brake Control while towing a trailer, and it worked flawlessly. I never lost connection to my trailer brakes and there were no episodes of erratic behavior. I have also utilized the auxiliary pin and wiring to charge batteries and run accessories on camper trailers with no known problems. I will admit that the dust cover for the 4 wire flat connector does seem to be a little flimsy and I do not expect it to last for very long; however, there are many replacements sold for cheap so I'm not worried. I would definitely recommend this multi-tow connector to anyone looking for a little versatility combined with reliability.

It's worth it if you got the tools to install this harness.
The media could not be loaded. Just replaced my hold harness with this new one. love how this one does come with an attachment to upgrade from a 4 prong to a 7 prong with electric breaking and what not. Here are some good and bad things to keep in mind.Pros:- comes with the right stuff to install the wiring harness- has all features that are useful in the wiring harness- everything works according to the tests that this harness went through without any issues- does come with instructions on how to wire in the harness-this product came with the mounting bracket which is a plusCons:- when putting the bracket on, you have to bolt it on a flat survace. It was mounted on a town hitch bar, but will hold. Not a firm fit. Can't fully bolt down as the bolts are too small to go through 3 inches of steel.- The ground is white instead of black. To mount the ground, you have to find a place on your vehicle to ground it at. I had to strip the wired to clamp in the wire to the old harness.- had to strip the wires for the adapter part to hook up, but that was expected.- on the 4 prong adapter, at least have the ground put in there so we don't have to bolt it to the vehicle just in case you don't want to drill and mess up the frame and create rust on the vehicle in the long run.Overall, I'm satisfied with this wiring harness. The old one I had to strip out barely gave power to the power breaks on the trailer, the reverse light on my old harness didn't work and the only thing that worked really well on my old harness was the parking lights. Now, the good thing about this product is that you have the option to use the mounting bracket if you want to use that, or if you have a truck like a silverado, tahoe, ford truck, toyota truck and what ever truck that you have, you can drill one 3 inch hole to fit all the wires through and the base to fit through, you can drill 4 holes where the face of the harness can mount in place and bolt the harness in. Simple if you have the tools. If you don't have the tools, you can always go to a shop or to go these repair places, they will more than willing to help you install this harness.I give this product a 9 out of 10, because of some issues, but overall, great product to get.

Very pleased with this purchase.
A great trailer connector! Well made and easy to install. The backof the unit is sealed with epoxy to keep moisture from the connections. The first unit I ordered was missing the adaptor bracket and the install bolts. Looks like the package was broken and the parts were missing. However, Amazon quickly sent a replacement unit and I have had it installed - works great. Would certainly order from this vendor again and the Amazon "no questions asked return policy" makes it easy to correct any errors in orders.
