They work. And that's what counts.
I purchased these for a home in New England that gets cold, to understate it. I purchased some "test sets" last winter and will be purchasing the rest of what's needed for this winter.

Liners vs blackout curtains
See my before and after photos. I think this will help keep the heat and cold out too.I bought liners for 2 bedrooms and I’m happy with results. I couldn’t find blackout curtains that were actually blackout so I added these liners.

Met all expectations :)
My next door neighbor landscaped his front yard and removed several trees. I started having difficulty staying asleep and realized that those trees had shaded the rising sun. I was being kept awake by the bright sun coming through my bedroom curtains and reflecting off the dresser mirror. I have nice pinch pleat drapes that I wanted to keep so I gave these liners a try. I bought two, one for each panel. They are the perfect length but just a few inches narrower than what I needed. They were so easy to add to back of the drapes and I was able to position them such that I could block the side nearest my bed and the center gap. These liners are excellent and I am back to sleeping soundly past the early sunrise. Buy these, you won’t regret it. They fit all sort of window curtains such that you can keep what you have already hanging.

Extreme Hotel Quality
I think this is my first review ever because I really wanted to express my love for this product. I bought the 45" x 77" curtain liners (2) and just received and installed them. The quality is extremely high end hotel quality and this is one of the best purchases I have ever made. I had very thin curtains on our front window but didn't want to part with them so I purchased these. My curtains however are not the type shown in the photo. They are the type that completely cover the rod so I purchased some curtain pins separately and it works perfectly. We also have an insulation problem in this new house and I can already tell that by hanging these liners under my curtains we will save some money on our heating bill as it is very cold here. It only took me about 20 minutes to hang to of these and that is only because I had to pin mine to attach it to my existing curtain. This thermalogic liner completely covers the window, darkens it, and reduces sound already. I am so happy that you can not see in through our front window now as well. Because of how high quality these are, they actually visually make my other thin curtains look higher quality as well. There is a primary white side and the inside is a nice grey color so I actually chose the grey side to show on the external portion of the window. I am going to buy two more of these to help insulate our sun room. This is just an amazing product that actually does everything it claims and I'm so happy with my purchase.Update to my original review: I have owned these for nearly 1 year now and I wanted to add an update. These have held up beautifully and are in original condition. They completely darken the room when needed and they have reduced our electric bill by at least $20 every month. During the hot summer months, they helped keep our living room cool and now that winter is upon us in the Midwest, they certainly help to keep the heat in. I am still very happy with the quality and effectiveness of this product and plan to purchase some more this month to help keep my son's room warmer during winter.Update January 3rd, 2014I wanted to include an update to my review since I have owned these for 1 year now. They are still holding up like the day I bought them and currently maintaining the warmth inside during our current zero degree days here. I just calculated our first repeating November electric bill since we moved in last November and it is $50 less this month than last year during the same month. I also calculated an estimate of energy savings for each month after hanging these in the two locations with the largest windows in our living area and we saved approximately $20 per month due to the excellent insulation. The original pins are holding well and I have even had compliments on the hotel quality of my curtains during the past year.

Blocks light and is well made
The reason that I gave this product 4 out of 5 stars is that the options for hanging it might be better. It's true that there are straps with brass rings installed, however there are only 4 straps placed at considerable distance, whereas 6 would have been more adequate to the task. In my application, I have two different situations, one of which involves a simple tubular rod that lends itself well to using the attached rings, however the other situation required hanging this liner from a traverse rod. The only means of attaching the liner without resorting to some modification of the product involved the use of hanger pins intended for pinch-pleat draperies. The result is a little uneven as there is no practical way to prevent the pins from slipping on the liner material, causing sagging on some of the pins and not so much on others. Since the liner is behind a sheer with draperies in front, the unevenness cannot be discerned upon viewing the end result, however it could be objectionable in some applications. Some form of hanging from traverse and other such applications might be more acceptable to some. It's true that there is a slight odor present initially present after installation, however it seems to dissipate rather quickly. In my opinion, the "offensive odor" about which some people complained is overstated based upon my experience. I suppose it could vary, however it would seem that the manufacturer is likely consistent in fabricating this product. If that's so, then I can only conclude that other purchasers have refined olfactory function that I do not possess. My nose was not offended by the smell. I installed this product in my bedroom and slept in the room the first night after hanging. I usually sleep with the window open an inch or so, but not enough to create a high air flow. Two nights later, I was unable to identify the smell after coming into the room immediately from the outdoors. Overall, given that I paid such a small amount for a product competing with those I found in brick and mortar stores for about 4 times the cost, I'm very pleased. For that price, I can easily handle the (slight) inconveniences presented in dealing with the minimal hanging issues. I'd purchase this product again.

Excellent for southwest facing homes that retain a lot of heat
I used this for my living room. My existing curtains were room darkening, not blackout. My living room is southwest-facing, so it’s bright and retains heat. These liners really helped with keeping the room darker when I watch movies and brings down the temperature when it gets warm out. I am thinking of buying more for my kitchen. I had to buy extra curtain rings. My curtains are grommet, and I found that without the extra rings, the liners sagged a bit. There are only 4 grommets that come with the liner

Good blackout curtains but did not provide any heat relief
These liners are great as blackout curtains (you can find cheaper blackout curtains). I have south facing windows and find they did absolutely nothing to provide relief from the heat and it is only April! I am a senior and always provide truthful reviews so that people do not waste their hard earned money buying useless products. I bought these based on the reviews, it makes me wonder how they seem to work great for other people and not for me.

These thermal liners are excellent. I did notice that after just installing them ...
These thermal liners are excellent. I did notice that after just installing them on my west-facing window for the summer, they reduced my electrical bill for A/C by about 30% the month after I installed them. In the winter, my heating bill is considerably less after installing them on all but 2 windows. I intend to get the last 2 windows covered before the summer. These greatly help for energy efficiency, especially if you have windows from the 1960's like I do. I place sheer curtains on a small rod closest to the window, and then place these liners on another rod, together with blackout curtains. They work great with IKEA's SANELA line of curtains (which are quite heavy, and themselves are effective blackout curtains). The white surface that faces the window greatly helps to reflect the sun's rays back, which I believe is one of the main methods of action these curtains use during the summer. They are wind-proof and quite thick, which helps in the winter.I was concerned after reading reports of a chemical odour that reviews show. I washed these liners as soon as I received them, and tumble-dried on low heat (even though it says to air-dry). I can't report any chemical smell on my liners. Since I ordered them for 2017, I believe that issue has been resolved by then. The ones I have are completely scent-free.If you want to save energy (I am sure we all do!), I highly recommend these curtain liners, as they're awesome, and do exactly what they say they will. They have definitely made a huge impact in my energy bills!

Only one drape....
In the questions section it was written that it was a pair. It is not. There is only one drape. Very disappointed.
