One of the best carry-ons on the market
I started looking for a new dedicated carry-on to replace an older Victorinox backpack that had been my "go to" for the better part of a decade. The bag itself is still going strong (a testament to Victorinox quality), but as my travel has become more business-oriented I can no longer justify lugging my carry-on on my back. I looked at several options including the Briggs & Riley TORQ, Samsonite Carbon, Delsey Helium Aero, and Halliburton ZEROLLER. I ultimately went with the Spectra 2.0 for the following reasons: Matte Hard-Side All the options I compared were hard-side because while some think it is easier to stuff a soft-side bag into a carry-on bin, I prefer to do any stuffing at packing time and know I can easily slide my bag in the bin at boarding time. I sometimes gate check my bag, so I wanted something that would not show scuffs and scratches like some of the glossy options I considered. Spinner Wheels Again, I'm going against the grain, but I like having the maneuverability of four wheels on my carry-on since I have to lug this bag with me through the airport (my larger "long trip" checked bag has only two wheels). The wheels on the Spectra roll very smoothly and the bag can easily be tipped up onto any two wheels to function just as well as any two-wheeled back I've ever used. Dual-Access My only complaint with the bag is that the front panel opens to the side instead of at the top like the Briggs & Riley. It also requires a separate luggage lock if you intend to secure your bag fully. But as far as functionality, the Spectra is much more versatile. There are plenty of built-in pouches to hold electronics, your bag of fluids, keys, etc. and the divider can be zipped out to make the bag function much more like a traditional split-shell case. Build Quality Some of the bags I tried fit very loosely at the zippers, which meant the two halves did not align correctly when pushing the bag on four wheels. The Victorinox zippers are very solid (while still being easy to zip) and there is no warping when pushing the bag in any direction. The wheels are very well built and can easily be replaced if mishandled by an airline. The bag also comes with thoughtful extras such as a luggage tag and a storage bag, which just show that Victorinox intends for this bag to last a while.

Great carry on, very portable
I love this bag. It rolls effortlessly and is a perfect size for smaller planes where a typical rollerboard will not fit. The hard case material is holding up well so far, no dents or gouges. I'm glad I paid extra and got the dual-access model with the extra door on the outside. It's very convenient to access things without unzipping the main compartment. Plus you can load the bag through this compartment also. I haven't used it yet but it includes a removable panel for a laptop/tablet and accessories that is padded for protection. I can easily get 2-3 days worth of business clothes (shirts, pants, no suit), 1 pair of shoes, and some workout clothes packed without having to cram things in. The hard shell does a good job of compressing the soft stuff and you don't lose too much room for the handle. It's probably more than you'll want to spend on a carry on, but if you travel frequently, it's money well spent.

Pretty good bag!
Positives - Very sturdy bag that rolls like a dream. It is well made with strong zippers and a stable, adjustable handle. The size is also perfect - fits in the overhead bin without any issues. The size is a little deceiving ... the bag is really much bigger than it looks and can accommodate a lot. I travel with a laptop, an extra monitor, cords, mouse, electronic and office supplies, make-up, large make-up mirror, pair of shoes, toiletries, snacks, umbrella, wipes, tissue and other personal items - and it is still quite empty. I could probably fit clothes in there too but would not be able to lift it over my head to put into the overhead bin because of the weight. Of all my rolling suitcases, this one has the smoothest glide. I barely need to push or tug it - a little effort and the bag will practically roll itself. It is also a very pretty looking bag! Cons - I'm not sure I like the the clam style bag. You have to lay it down to open it up - very awkward. Since the laptop compartment opens sideways, it is also very awkward. Whenever I need to take my laptop out of the bag, the zipper catches on the bottom edge. The bag organization leaves a lot to be desired. The laptop compartment is great with pockets and slots, but the inside of the bag could use more pockets. Try retrieving something out of the main compartment of a clamshell bag! You will need to rummage in there - or lay the bag on a surface completely open to find anything. Not cool! Overall - Pretty good bag ... but still looking for the perfect bag. Somewhere out there is a compact, semi-hardside, rolling bag with a compartment for every item.and a side-entry laptop compartment in the rear. In the meanwhile, this bag will work.

Great product with sufficient volume and versatile access, sturdy wheels, and strong frame to lean on
I love all Spectra products and this small size is excellent for short trips and as a carry-on. I worried about airlines being picky about its dimensions, but have had no trouble so far on various American flights and carriers. (But watch out with Swiss Airlines, no pun intended, since they are extremely picky). This product has very versatile packing options, and dual access is very useful when you want to pack in some travel or technical materials for use on a long transatlantic flight without having to dig in through your rest of personal carry-on stuff. I was at first worried if it would have enough space for longer trips, but have since used it for a several day business trip. I recommend it highly. Finally, it is easy to use this suitcase as a "cart". I have occasionally mobility issues, and can use this suitcase almost as a cane to lean on.

My vote for beat looking and most useful travel bag.
Be careful to order this model that splits in two vs. the one that expands but has only one way to load (not counting front laptop compartment. This case is also slightly larger but fits in overheads. Very durable. Rolls nicely. Love Victorinox aesthetic: highly useful.

Beautiful design in theory, but not in practice
I ordered this bag along with 8 others from Amazon. I love the design, aesthetically. Functionally, it's mediocre—especially at this price point. The side-opening front access area is just weird. I'm trying to think of a good reason why it wouldn't open from the top instead. There has to be some tradeoff I'm not seeing, but I can't see it. The wheels are nice and roll smoothly, but are definitely not the nicest as people claim. Most of the bags I tested were in the $100 price range, and the Delsey bags ALL rolled more smoothly and had sturdier handles. The bad I ended up choosing was a delsey bag with a front access section (top access, not side), and it felt like an upgrade next to this one in every way except the Victorinox logo (I admit I'm a fan of the Victorinox brand for a few of their products, like their 8" chef knife that has been one of my most-used possessions... ever). The Delsey bag only cost a fraction of this bag at around $119 for the black version (even cheaper if you're not picky about color). Overall, I just couldn't justify spending the money on this bag. Even when considering the 9 bags I tested purely on features and practicality and not price, this one lost to over half of the other bags I tested included the more generic Kenneth Cole roller bags. I wouldn't go as far as to say you SHOULDNT buy this bag. If the price isn't an issue and you just like it for its looks, I'm sure you'll be satisfied, but if you want a bag that functions well, meets your needs (and I assume front access is one of those needs if you're looking at this bag), and for the best value, this is most likely not the bag for you.

IF YOU ARE BUYING THIS FOR VICTORINOX’S WARRANTY, DON’T! READ BELOW.
12/02/18 BUYER BEWARE! I have had this bag for almost 3 years and have called it one of the best bags I have owned (to friends and family). I bought the bag due to design, it’s warranty and reports of good customer service. Fast forward 3 years, I have used this bag about 20 times and it has been wonderful. It has never been checked and only used as carry-on baggage. I came to find a big crack at the base of the suit case (between the wheels). I promptly emailed Victorinox Customer Service and was told that their warranty doesn’t cover cosmetic or carrier damage. I replied (what exactly do you cover?) and explained that I work in plastic injection molding and this was clearly a material defect or material issue. I have yet to receive a follow up email. The smug, terse response is inexcusable in an era of peer reviews. I hope this feedback finds its way to executive management. As a traveling executive myself, I value when customers find a way to let me know when my staff, practices or policy are putting them at a competitive disadvantage. I am eyeing and Briggs & Riley Torq. I’ll post an update if someone responds but I have little hope.

Very snazzy luggage & great for short trips, but is VERY small.
I take quite a few 1-3-day trips for business, and I've been dedicating myself to "leaning down" my luggage (and thecontents thereof) as much as possible. Hence, my purchase of this luggage. Here is the skinny: PROS: - Very light, mobile; rolls well; easy access to compartments. - Comes with globally trackable ID (must register online), in case it gets lost. - VERY compact and small; almost makes you feel like you forgot something because you can't possibly have it all in this luggage. CONS: - Actually VERY small! Despite how much I want to downsize my gear for quick trips, this luggage could benefit from just 2-3 more inches in overall dimensional space (Technically speaking, this meets the FAA carry-on limits nearly exactly, but every time I travel with it I have the smallest carry-on by far, as compared to others who are putting their bags in the overhead compartments). - The safety lock is more gimmick than security feature, as one can easily access the bag through another compartment, even if the lock is engaged.

Comoda e leggera

Awesome...
Amazing product...I just loved the ease with the which the wheel moves. Size is just right for me to carry my laptop and clothes for a week stay. I am a frequent traveler. The side open for the laptop compartment is a slight nag, but if you want the top loading option, you need to live with it. I am super impressed with this product...which is usual for all Victornox products....

Extra capacity version
I have both the normal and extra capacity versions of this bag. The latter allows for extra items on longer trips.
