Hawaii The Big Island Adventure Guide Franko Maps Waterproof Map

The Franko's maps of the Hawaiian Islands take up little space, are made of waterproof material, and provide not only a good map of the area, but also highlights some of the favorite things to see or do on the islands. I have most of the maps that include: The Hawaiian Islands, Oahu Guide Map, Oahu Dive Map, Maui Guide Map, Maui Dive Map, Hawaii Guide Map, Kauai Guide Map and Kauai Dive Map. Six of the maps were available from Amazon.com with free shipping, but two had to be purchased from independent vendors on Amazon and charged a small shipping fee.For the few dollars I paid, it was well worth it to have a great map that folds up and takes little space in my suitcase. Once I get to a particular island, I take it with me to know where I'm going and where I've been. Bring along a Sharpie pen to mark the places you've been or want to return. The back side of the map has a blown up area of popular places, for example, Oahu has Waikiki Beach and the placement of hotels and landmarks. I highly recommend these maps for getting around the islands.

Just as advertised. This is an overall cool map that serves its function. I was camping on the islands and it tends to be rainy in the Winter, so the fact this this map is waterproof really paid off. I like how there is an expanded view on the second side of volcanos national park. Just be really respectful of that place if you visit as it is very powerful and special. If you've been there you know what I'm talking about. However, I heard that Franko's company screwed him and "voted" him out, still making money off his name? I'm not 100% sure of the validity of this and would like to hear from the company or anybody if they know this to be true or not. In any case, it's still a functional, good product.

It's pretty, but that doesn't matter. It's waterproof, and that was important to me. But its flaws go beyond beauty. Too much information is crammed into the available space and would have better served if it had been printed on a separate sheet instead of cluttering the map. The print is simply unreadable, with a tiny, blurred font, with lines crammed together. Worse, it's printed in a color that doesn't contrast enough with the busy background to aid legibility. If you only care about the major points of interest, the durable nature of the map can be useful. But if you bought it for its detail (a lot of which is out of date), you will be frustrated. Keep your magnifying glass handy. I guess I'll give this thing to the kids.

If you are going to Hawaii Island, you need this book. It is fun to read, very helpful, and a great resource when you are there.

We planned our trip to the big island using this map. It was well worth every penny. Franko maps were available in the gift shop at the Kona airport too! Franko maps will forever be my map of choice when traveling. Hawaii 2020

Well made. Nice little map. They make one that has all the islands summarized on one single map. Make sure you buy the one you need. I purchased 3 maps when I could have simply purchased the one summary map.
