After our local grocery store stopped carrying these larger Ziploc bags, what did I do? I ran to Amazon of course, to see if they had them in stock. I was pleasantly surprised to find that not only did Amazon carry the bags, but they had them for much less than what I had been shelling out all these years. At the time of my last Amazon purchase – October 2014, I paid just under $12 for 3 boxes - 10 bags per box .Most of the meat we purchase comes from a fresh meat counter, and that means coming home with roasts that have been wrapped in white freezer paper. In other words, packages that aren’t airtight. Regular sized Ziploc bags are fine for smaller packages of ground meat, or some chicken thighs, but there’s no way a hefty 3-5 pound roast will fit. So I regularly rely on these 2 gallon freezer bags for storage.Although they aren’t completely airtight, they do seal freezer paper wrapped packages well enough, and I have yet to be disappointed by the quality of meat that has been defrosted after being stored in one of these bags. Also, one bag will easily fit a couple of good-sized roasts.I think these larger freezer bags are the next best thing to having a vacuum sealer, which is something I’m considering for the future. In the meantime, I will continue to use my trusty freezer bags.

I was so happy to find these! I didn't even know they made a 2-gallon size. I like to put my boxes of cereal, noodles, etc. in zip-lock bags to keep them fresh and keep out any weevils that might come home with the groceries. 1-gallon bags will hold only one box. 2-gallon bags hold 2-3 boxes. Perfect! I can use them over and over again. Your kids can also compress their clothes in these bags when they're going off to summer camp.

ZipLocs are one of the world's most useful items. I love them for everything from the tiny pill jewelry storage to the huge 2 and 4 gallon size!These extra large 2 gallon freezer bags are great for things too large for the 1 gallon size. If you can bone a whole turkey, they will fit nicely into one of these bags along with brine and you can season you holiday birds in a space efficient way. They are heavy duty and liquid-proof so you can get the job done safely - although you might want to use a bowl just in case.One way these have come in handy for me: I live in a national forest and there is lots of wildlife roaming in our area. We are fighting a constant battle with mice and I go through times when there are fresh mouse droppings in my utensils drawer each morning. I was so tired of putting ALL MY UTENSILS in the dishwasher every morning, so I started storing the clean items in these closed bags. Each morning, I remove the safely closed 2 gallon Ziploc bags, wipe them down with a mild bleach solution, wipe out my drawer and replace the sanitary bags. It takes me 5 minutes! I also do this for my kitchen linens, since mice love to burrow around in the soft fabrics. These bags have saved my sanity!For large item and large food storage, these are the best! I use the freezer bags for things that need more sturdy protection, and I use the storage bags for items that need protection but not necessarily heavy duty. Can't do without them!

I am a special education teacher, so I am always thinking outside of the box. I originally wanted to purchase space bags to pack for a trip to Europe. However, I discovered that those bags were expensive and they were actually "roll" bags. In other words, you place your clothes in the bag, seal it, and roll it to squeeze out the air through a one way valve. I thought about this and decided to purchase the regular 2 gallon Ziploc Freezer Bags to see if I could do the same thing with these as the roll-up space bags. Guess what, they worked perfectly for a fraction of the cost. Place your clothes in the bags, seal almost all the way leaving an inch opening at the end of the zipper for the air to escape, roll it from the bottom up, and seal the bag the rest of the way closed. Perfect! I was able to pack all of our clothes in carry-on luggage using these bags as make shift "space bags". My husband was very impressed, and we didn't have to check any luggage for our trip to France. Whatever your need is for 2 gallon freezer bags, you can't go wrong with these Ziploc bags!

For some reason, the supermarket chains in my area - Washington DC & Maryland - seemed to have stopped carrying these for several years now. (They also don't carry the ZIPLOC 1 pint size). The 2-gallon, 1-gallon, 1-quart and 1-pint freezer Ziploc bag are are excellent for organizing and protecting stuff in your suitcases or knapsacks when traveling. The 2-gallon size is great for protecting sweater, shirts, underwear, etc from getting wet, or contrariwise, putting wet things away until they can be laundered. They can be used as compression sacks to squeeze air out and greatly reduce the space clothes take in suitcase. They do have a tendency to slowly let air get back in, but you can easily squeeze it out again when repacking for they next day of travel.

When you have a need for them, these bags come in so handy for storing larger sized items or huge supplies of items - most recently for me, a large number of individual single-serve breakfast burritos. Many other uses. There are times when a gallon bag just won't do the job. You'll be glad you have some of these on hand! Hard to find in stores.

I get these in subscribe and save so I always have some. They are nearly impossible to find in my local stores, and since I buy the family pack sizes of shredded cheese or cuts of meat I need larger bags for the freezer so I don't have to break each package down to smaller bags, very time consuming.

These new HUGE bags are terrific for packing away big items like Christmas decorations, traveling or units for a teacher t carry projects& games back & forth from home to school.
