Well, set up was easy. I stuck it on my front porch because I have a raccoon in my soffit of the house, and sure enough when I got home from work there he was. Snacking on the marshmallows I put in there. Cage held up well for transport, and is built well. The release rod that helps secure the exit door likes to slide out as the animal moves around. But that’s my only complaint. But can be fixed by adding your own clip there on the gate to help make sure it don’t open. But I’m very pleased with the quality of the trap.

I bought this to catch a female cat that was getting pregnant over and over at my boyfriend's work, We had been able to catch some of her previous litters by hand and were able to give them loving homes but were unable to catch mom and one of her last babies. This trap is very humane and made it possible to finally catch momma kitty and her last baby who had an umbilical hernia that we took her to the vet for asap to get taken care of. Baby kitty now has a loving home and after catching the momma and taking her to the vet, we found out she was pregnant again. She will have her last litter and we will find homes for her and the babies as well as get her spayed. We owe all of this to this wonderful and humane trap that we were able to save 6 kitty lives! We are so thankful!

During a recent move, my cat got out and wouldn't come back because of all the commotion. New people moved in, which really freaked him out. After two weeks of going over there everyday to try and catch him, I ordered this. I was a little nervous because some of the reviews aren't very good. This worked better then I expected. A little confusing figuring it out, it took my husband and I 5-10 min to make sense of it. The directions aren't very explanatory. I set this up at our old house this morning and two hours later, it caught him! He couldn't get out, it didn't hurt him, worked out wonderfully!! My cat isn't a small cat, he's pretty strong too. This would work great for raccoons, possums, etc.

Having tried a few other traps, I can say that this is the best product in the market for relatively large animals. The wire is strong, the mechanism is simple and it is totally impossible for an animal to escape. The cage folds into a flat shape with the release of a couple of snaps. After only a couple of days of setting it out I caught a large opossum and I was able to relocate it safely. It is painted green, which is very sensible for day animals such as squirrels which won't approach a shiny metal cage. Very happy with this one.

After baiting the trap for 6 days, the rabbit finally wandered in and the trap worked perfrectly. What wasn't perfect was the clip on the release end of the trap. The instructions only show it attached to one corner of the cage. The rabbit went crazy when I picked up the trap to walk it to my truck. He was hitting the ends and sides of the cage very forcefully. He hit the release door hard enough to open the non-secured upper corner of the door about 1" (the wire door will bend a little) and instantly shoved his nose out and squeezed his body through the opening...and he was gone. So, he's still living in my neighborhood. :-(My advice is to use a piece of wire and very tightly and securely wire closed BOTH sides of the release door upper corners. You can un-twist or cut the wires when you want to release your "guest."

Great raccoon trap. Baited with Vienna sausages and anchovy paste and in a matter of a couple weeks I caught 6 raccoons. In fact I caught 2 on the first night. I had a problem with raccoons getting into my garbage. I set this up until my driveway and pushed the anchor pin down in the ground in the crack between the slabs and it held them with no problem. One night however I caught a neighbors cat. When I approached the trap the cat was so scared and energetic that it was able to push itself though the back of the trap. On this trap the back panel is held up by a single loosely fitting clip that has a chain that attaches to the anchor pin. This makes for some slack between the panels in the rear. While raccoons are smart, they will usually explore an exit with their paws/claws/hands (or whatever you call it on the micro-ursine critters). A panicked cat will jab their head through a hole and squeeze their body through. The rear of the trap may be secured better but it isn't necessary for raccoons or opossums. Anyway, about once a year I'll set this out for a week or two and it works fine. If I go 3 days without a capture I break it down and store it away. It collapses easily and stores away on a shelf in the garage really easily.

This is an excellent trap! Expect to catch cats, possums, and raccoons.Do take note of the traps function when you get it. Understand how it works.Do test the traps locking mechanism before every use by tripping it with a finger or stick. It should trip with very little force. Grass can accumulate underneath and keep the Trap from tripping. Dump out all the grass every time you use it. Make sure no bait is underneath the tripping mechanism too.Do put bait in the back. This is the door that the animal goes out of.Do not blame trap for animams that "magically escape". Rats and moles easily trip this well functioning trap. They also easily fit thru the walls of the trap. Just reset the trap. If it happens to much then buy a smaller trap put them out next to one another.Remember this trap will catch animals. Please avoid putting your trap in the Sun during the summer. Whatever animal you catch could die in the sun. Water bowls do not work. They will get dumped by the animal as soon as the trap closes.
