Sambucus Traditional Immune Syrup

We love this elderberry syrup. It is very easy to take because the flavor is great and the color is vibrant. The texture is very smooth and not too thick. This helps our energy levels during cold and flu season and it helps up healthy and pain free.

I have this product on Subscribe and Save auto-delivery and I use it regularly for myself, my husband, and our toddler son. I use it along with Herbs for Kids Echinacea & Astragalus, and I find the combination to be very effective in reducing the length and severity of illnesses. I began using this product on my son when he was around a year old. Since he was six months old, he suffered from acute asthma-like symptoms when he would get sick. He was on several different nebulized and oral medications during these periods of time. Between illnesses, he had no asthma-like symptoms and was completely healthy. Since he was in daycare, there was no escaping frequent respiratory illnesses. It got to the point that whenever he would develop even a slight runny nose (due to teething, etc), it would eventually settle into his chest and turn into a wheezing episode. He and I both hated the nebulizer. I looked for products that could help me proactively address this issue and I found Sambucus through Amazon. There were too many positive reviews for me not to try it. I did not buy the children's version, but this adult version. I started giving my son one 5 mL dose every day as a preventative treatment. When he got the sniffles or showed any other signs of something developing, I started an acute dose of 5 mL twice to three times a day. I also give him (daily) 1 mL of the Echinacea + Astragalus at least twice a day. I put the Echinacea in his milk (it tastes like a mild sweet tea). He will drink the Sambucus right out of a dropper; however, it is dark, dark purple and will stain faces and clothes (think tastes and looks like grape juice). So, I mix it into a serving of plain, unsweetened yogurt. He gobbles it up. I've even mixed it into a little apple juice and water and let him take it via his sippy cup. Since I started using this product, we have been more successful at nipping respiratory infections before they settle in his chest. There would be times when he had runny nose, even coughing, but no wheeze. When he came down with HFMD, I thought I heard the tiniest wheeze in his chest, but it went away quickly. He did not get ulcers in his mouth. I missed a week of work while he ran around the house and played, feeling absolutely fine. I've used both of these products on myself and my husband as well, and we find the same benefits when we take them: viral illness severity and length is reduced. When my husband and I take the Sambucus, we use a bulb dropper and take it directly, without mixing it in drink or food. I'm not sure if one product works more than the other, but I will continue to give the Sambucus and Echinacea + Astragalus in tandem to my family. There haven’t been as many syringes in my sink for a long time, and I am so grateful for that.

We use this for colds, after three days of using we always feel better, even though the cold hasn't completely gone away. We add it to a bottle of water. We don't use the ones with all the other additives, just the original. It suggests using up to 4 times a day when you are really sick, but we only use it 2 or 3 times a day and since it is concentrated we always drink lots of water with it.

Product came as mentioned. The taste and smell were good. Didn't bother me, better than medicine. Felt like it help me out , definitely will continue trying

Edit 4-1-23: I have Nature’s Way Sambucus Original Elderberry Syrup on Subscribe and Save. Recently the price has been swinging wildly. It can actually go up and down 30% or more. Now I have to check before each shipment to decide if I'm willing to pay the price for the next shipment. I still love the product and want to keep buying it but I'm really not happy with the drastic up and down price swing. I have actually skipped a month due to high price. I'm leaving my original review below although I have changed the way I use it. On doctor's orders, I now take Clearlax (generic MiraLAX) every day for IBS-C. I add 2 Tbs of Elderberry Syrup to a glass of water and my daily dose of Clearlax and sip it over the course of the day. The Clearlax is tasteless so I get to drink a refreshing fruity drink every day. I'm not going to tell you this prevents colds or flu. I'm just going to say I think it helps me get fewer colds and less severe colds when I do get them. Honestly I don't know whether that's psychological or not, but it seems that way to me and I guess that's all that matters. I can tell you I think it tastes great...lol. During cold season I use it twice a day. If I'm starting to feel like I might be coming down with something, I use it more often. After reading a lot about it, I believe it might help boost my immune system.

Excellent Product! Worth the Price!

I learned how to make my own elderberry syrup at a local organic shop, but for this price it is definitely worth buying the bottle here (although they add acid for preservative reasons). I was fighting an internal infection and antibiotics just weren't cutting it. I remembered that I had another brand of elderberry syrup in the past for a few nasty colds and it did wonders so I gave this a shot and it within a week, my infection was practically gone. I purchased a 2nd bottle and am taking this stuff daily to keep it at bay. As with any organic remedy, everyone's result will be different, but for less than $20, at least you will have a nice tasting remedy to try even if it doesn't cure wait ails you. The taste is amazing, although anything with added sugar in it will. I highly recommend this product for anyone who doesn't want to jump right into the world of antibiotics or someone who just needs to have a "cold cure" on hand before having to take a trip to the doctor. As a side note, I wanted to mention that this is my 3rd Nature's way product that I have purchased and so far I have been impressed with the price for quality of their products.
