it did go on easily, despite being the consistency of water
READ THE EVERBUILD WEBSITE BEFORE BUYING THIS PRODUCT!The clear version of this wood preserver just a pre-treatment and when used externally it ought to be overpainted or stained. The clear version does not repel water. The manufacturer's website will give you far more information than is contained in the Amazon description.I used it on the fence panels on one side of the garden before I finally read the tin and worked out that it wasn't what I wanted. However, it did go on easily, despite being the consistency of water. I have no idea if it works though, and will be getting something else to put over the top.The Everbuild website will also give you some indication about the coverage.

Penetrates well and should protect the wood for some time from fungi, moulds and algae.
Great product, that really deeply penetrates the wood, even if the wood is a little damp. I used this on recently sanded old (smooth) decking and it penetrated really well. Remember though, this is a wood TREATMENT, not a pretty top coat for making your wood look good, or even making your wood water resistant. I recently restored some old decking that I thought might need replacing - it was years old and neglected. I first applied an algaecide/fungicide/moss killer to get rid of the current green growth and mycelium that was growing on the timber. I then (belt) sanded it and replaced the small amount of rotten timbers. Sanding it "opened up" the wood that then permitted the Wood Preserver to deeply penetrate. To finish, I will give it 2 coats of decking oil once the timbers are really dry. The Wood Preserver will keep the algae, moulds, moss and fungi from returning quickly. The top-coat oil makes it look nice and helps to repel water (and will need re-doing every year). Some people seem to think that the Everbuild Wood Preserver is a top-coat treatment to make the wood look nice and repel water - it isn't. It's to protect your wood against invasion from insects, mycelium, moss, etc. You still need to apply a top coat after you have applied this product to make it look nice and to repel water ingress.

This is not water repellant
When I ordered I was actually looking for Barretine preservative - but couldn’t find it and this came up and looked the same - so thought I would be a good replacement. Well, it arrived so late - long after expected date, I had to get a product locally to do the job so haven’t actually used it yet. However, on reading the instruction in the tin, I note that it is not water repellant - not at all like the stuff I was looking for - although the same price!! So not really happy. Guess it will come in useful at some point to use under a water repellant one and perhaps reduce the amount I will need of a decent treatment! Disappointed, especially having waited so long. ALso in the current lockdown situation, not exactly easy to return!

Good treatment genuinely clear does not discolour wood
A milky liquid, brushes etc easy to clean in water.Low odour so does not stink the place out and soaks quickly into the wood and does not discolour it, one of the few genuinely clear products.Time will tell on its preserving properties, reputable brand so expect it to do the job. Does various rots, fungii and woodworms. Many other low cost brands dont do woodworm. It leaves wood with dry natural feel for subsequent over treatment, painting, waterproofing or polishing.I use it on old reclaimed timber etc that are then made into things, wood turning etc.AND on other garden and house timber preserving.

This treatment stops wood boring critters
Just putting the two new coats on after one year and absolutely no woodworm , woodlice and other wood loving insects at all .I have not overstained it for one year but seeing has it is not waterproof I might overcoat it this year with an oil based stain to waterproof it . This preserver goes on like water and does soak into every little crack so that is an advantage and worth the money . It works like it says on the tin !

Not a full wood preserver
I bought this to treat a new garden tool hut but on reading the information on the tin discovered that this would not waterproof the wood and I need to buy another product. Okay, perhaps does what it says on the tin, but not what it hints at on Amazon. I should have read the one star comments too! Now considering returning it, but if I don't and decide to do two treatments on the hut I'll update this review!

Product arrived in a very bad shape
The metal container arrived full of dents. Likely liquid didn't leak. This is the only reason why I am keeping it.

not a waterproofer,
cant comment on its effectiveness, but it doesn't smell and applies easily with no fuss from a sprayer, it is entirely invisible and leave no stains on concrete etc, despite several reviews saying its a waterproofer, the can says its not, its not like thompsons water seal, but it does prevent rot, apparently, only time will tell
