It's more interesting to decide whether or not to pull the trigger.In short, you are punished severely for shooting yourself, you can opt for safety, but you will also be punished when other people take the risk.(inspired by the story of "Liar Game".)First, the gun is prepared, and the cylinder is spun to randomize the location of the 'bullet'. A penalty is decided upon (do pushups, drink, pay money, whatever).Each player goes in turn to point the gun at their head and decide whether or not they want to pull the trigger.If they decide NOT to pull the trigger (pass), they get a penalty token.If they decide TO PULL the trigger, and if does goes off, they take 2x Penalites, everyone's penalty tokens are cleared.If they decide to pull the trigger, and if it does NOT go off, everyone else with a penalty token takes 1x penalty; everyone's tokens are cleared.If it goes in a full circle with no one pulling the trigger, everyone takes 1x penalty, everyone's tokens are cleared; The gun is then pointed in the air and fired. The game then continues with the next player's turn.Once the gun goes off (pointed at someone or pointed in the air), the game is over and can be played again.The 1x/2x penalty ratio is recommended but can be changed to anything else, such as 1.5x/2x or 1x/2.5x if one would like. This plastic loop actually rotates 360 degrees, snapping in 90 degree increments.Item Functionality:The gun is actually very true to the function and operation of a single-action revolver.Those familiar with revolvers, skip this paragraph; For those who are not familiar with revolvers, it works like this:The central gray piece is the 'cylinder', it contains 6 tubes (chambers) for 'bullets'. In this case, 5 of are empty, and one contains a 'bullet'. The cylinder rotates, such that each chamber becomes aligned with the barrel of the gun. Each time the hammer is pulled back, the trigger latches into place to hold it back until the trigger is pulled, and the cylinder is automatically rotated clockwise once, advancing to the next chamber. When pulled, the hammer drops and hits the contents of the cylinder currently aligned to the barrel - either empty or a 'bullet'.This items bears several advantages, functionally, over other 'Russian roulette' party games;- The hammer, trigger, cocking, and trigger pull are all actually functional!- The hammer actually falls and hits what is in the chamber- the 'click' of an empty chamber is dramatically relieving.- the cylinder automatically advances to the next one;- the cylinder can be spun freely (though it clicks very quickly to a stop)A balloon is inflated into the loop and tied closed; the loop expands slightly to provide a 'hold' on the balloon to keep it in place.One of the chambers contains a needle mechanism. When this chamber is aligned with the barrel and struck by the falling hammer, the needle jabs out, pops the balloon, and retracts (the needle speed is so fast it cannot be seen with the naked eye, even in good light.Safety:- the hole that the needle comes out of is covered by the plastic balloon loop and is only uncovered when the loop is in its 'expanded' state, held open by the presence of a balloon. So, if there's no balloon in it, the hole is covered and the needle can't come out. I suppose you hold it back and put your finger there, but that's pretty silly.- Also, the sound of a balloon popping can be pretty loud, I recommend people hold it closer to their foreheads rather than ear/temple.Experience:Overall, the experience is amazing. No one likes a surprise-popping balloon, especially not one popping right next to their head. So, the anticipation stress is incredible.The positive and solid cocking of the hammer (with the cocking noise) and the smooth trigger squeeze and break furthers the anticipation and experience.People's faces of wincing in anticipation and the long pause before the trigger squeeze... followed by the 'click' of an empty chamber and the the inevitable sigh of relief that follows.Lots of fun.Shortcomings:There are three shortcomings of this device, none are all that bad or unfixable. In increasing annoyance:- First, the plastic balloon loop has a limit to its expansion, so have to inflate and tie each balloon while its in the loop.... It's extremely difficult to inflate balloons and then and then put them in.- Second, if you look closely at the gap between the chamber and the body of the gun, you can identify the chamber that has the 'bullet'... but you have to be looking closely and intently. as long as people agree not to closely examine between turns, this isn't an issue.- Third, the balloons may not reliably pop (huge frustration when it doesn't go off on the 6th shot, and you realize it wasn't working the entire game. This happens because the needle does not puncture the balloon. This could happen for 3 reasons: 1) balloon isn't inflated enough. Ever tried popping an under-inflated balloon? impossible. 2) There is a slight gap formed between the part of the loop that covers the needle hole and the balloon's surface. I think (read: this is a hypothesis) the needle doesn't stab far enough into the balloon to break the rubber. probably causes 20% of games to be unreliable. I believe this can be fixed by not using the loop, breaking the loop to put in bigger balloons, or cutting or flattening the needle-hole cover part of the loop; I have not yet tried fixing this one. 3) going along the previous points, I suppose a very thick and sturdy balloon may not pop reliably also, but that's a complete guess.

I bought this product as for a party I was having with a large group of mid to late 20somethings. To be honest, I purchased solely as a drinking game to serve for a few minutes of entertainment so people wouldn't have to sit sober or speak to many of their thoughts during the party, some might call it an ice breaker. Once people accepted the grotesque nature of the game it really is a huge hit for anyone seeking the adrenaline rush of blasting a balloon off in unsafe places around your face, ears, and head. Eventually nearly everyone wanted to get in on the game and it's equally fun just to watch someone in agony over fear of the balloon popping.I took off the plastic ring so that people would have to trap the balloon between their head and the nail that shoots out every 6 shots just like a real revolver. I can't say it functions perfectly every time and some times it takes some handy work to get the needle back in the right position but I would never pay enough money to have something like this that works as a result of flawless engineering and material craftsmanship. If you can make engineer and manufacture a better product for this price I dare you to try.I don't know why there are little Asian kids on the cover of the box but they seem like the least likely of anyone to enjoy this little game. This probably is not a good product for children if you don't want your kids to play with guns. It's especially not for children who destroy all things fun and enjoyable for adults.I've still got a seat open seat available for Christopher Walken should he ever want to join in this somewhat morbid game at my future parties.

Some friends and I chipped in to buy this under the impression that it used water balloons. As it turns out, it is intended to use balloons inflated by air, however, you can use water balloons if you are willing to put up with the added difficulty of using your hand to hold them in the ring (and the fact that the water falls mostly straight down when it pops, rather than exploding dramatically as we had hoped). As other reviewers have mentioned, the material doesn't exactly feel like the most durable. Furthermore, at least in our experience, the kill chamber is only lethal 1/3-1/2 of the time, which adds another level of edge-of-your-seat fun, since even if your time is up, the chamber might spare you. Also, I don't know if this is exactly a deal-breaker for anyone, but our gun didn't come with the stand which is shown in all the pictures.Bottom line, we bought this product expecting to have a fun and enjoyable time, and that is exactly what we got.

I saw the product in the movie "God Bless America" and had to have it.As soon as it came in the mail, I immediately opened it up and toyed around with it. It does feel kinda cheap and that if handled a bit roughly it would break. Everything worked as it should though.I brought it to one of my friend's house and made a drinking game out of it. Everytime you "die", you take a shot. About 10 minutes in, we all decided we were drinking way too fast.At my other friend's party, when I pulled it out, their faces all it up with smiles and curiosity. It was pretty fun for about 15 minutes, but then died down pretty quick.I got these  5" Dart Balloons  to go with it, and they fit perfectly in the gun.

Fun game but gets boring after a bit

Played with a bunch of adults during a summer BBQ. We filled the balloons with water and it went down a storm.It’s made fairly cheap plastic so not sure how long it will last but was great fun with friends

No good the gun never bursts the balloons

This is a simple but fun item ,which can be enjoyed by all ages of people. Care should be taken not to hold to close to ears but great fun for party's and small gatherings. Love it. Right up my street for fun and good Craic.💯👍
