Klark Teknik MIC BOOSTER CM-1 Dynamic Microphone Booster with Preamp

With some low output dynamic microphones I found that I had to have my interface/camera gain turned near maximum to get a usable signal, which produced background hiss. With this unit installed inline It offers about 20db of additional signal boost, with very little noise, so I now can turn my interface gain down and have plenty of signal to work with - the overall effect was a strong signal with a much lower noise floor. Be aware that you do need to enable phantom power (+48v) in order to power this signal booster and the phantom power is not extended to the connected microphone so it does not work with condenser microphones, which rarely need a signal booster anyway. The CM-1 signal booster is well made, sounds good, and is a great solution if you are struggling with getting enough clean signal from a dynamic microphone. It's a great value, works as well as the more expensive devices, and highly recommended.

Works well to increase the gain of Microphones that do not require Phantom power. Requires Phantom Power. Seems well built and in our usage increases the gain with no noticeable loss in quality.

This compact device was easy to use and solved a problem I was having with a voice recorder when recording my audiobook. The Shure SM7B dynamic mic I used was not giving adequate input to create a good recording. This CM1 booster added >20dB to the input into my Zoom recorder and completely solved the issue. Problem solved, and great recordings now!

I'm giving the Klark Teknik MIC BOOSTER CM-1 a full five stars. This little device has made a significant improvement to my streaming and podcasting setup. Likes: The CM-1 provides a very clean gain increase, and I've noticed no discernible added noise levels to my microphone signal. This clean gain is essential for professional-sounding recordings and streams, ensuring that my voice is clear and free of unwanted hiss. The build quality is also excellent; it's made of metal, has a good weight, and feels very solid and durable. Usage: I use the CM-1 with a Rode PodMic and a Wave XLR interface for both streaming and podcasting. It allows me to get a strong, clear signal without having to increase the gain on my Wave XLR to very high levels, which can introduce unnecessary noise. Conclusion: I highly recommend the Klark Teknik CM-1 to other streamers and podcasters who want to avoid introducing unwanted noise by overdriving the gain on their audio interfaces. It offers excellent performance at a very reasonable price, making it a great value for streamers and podcasters looking for a clean gain boost for their dynamic microphone. This is a fantastic and affordable solution.

What's not to like about an active mic booster that costs less than $50 and sounds like a million bucks? I have a Cloud Lifter and when compared side by side using multiple dynamic and ribbon mics, there is virtually no difference. The Klark Teknik (aka Behringer) CM-1 is well made, with all metal construction, rubber pads on the bottom, and XLR connectors which are not only soldered to the pcb board inside, but also screwed in securely on both ends...no worries about breaking the connections with regular use. The whole thing is just over half the length of a standard SM57 microphone and just barely wider, so it's a small footprint to say the least. Sound-wise, it adds a nice amount of gain with very little self-noise, and gives a slightly warmer tone to the mics I tested with it. In particular, I tried it out on one of my $5 Chure SM57's, which have no transformer in them, and was able to get a much better tone out of it than without the CM-1 in the signal flow. Not saying I'd use that mic for anything other than mic'ing the drums at a gig where the drummer doesn't know how to not hit the mics, but it definitively made it better. Even my $1k passive ribbon mics sounded better. It is important to note, through multiple tests both on the bench with meters and with actual mics, that no phantom power passes through this booster. You can not use it with a condenser or other active mic requiring 48v, but that also means it's perfectly safe for your vintage ribbon mics. (That said, I highly recommend doing your own tests on your own unit BEFORE plugging it into a passive ribbon mic...never know when you might get the one that was wired wrong from the factory!) Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase and it will be seeing a great deal of use in my studio.

I gave it the ol' "How can I make it fail" test and it passed, no issues. Provide phantom power to the CM-1 and it comes alive to jive Clive 25... db that is, of clean, noise free gain for your ribbon and other low output dynamic mics. Nice price.

Perfect for home studios where you use a dynamic mic but don't want to break the bank.

I recently upgraded my audio setup from Maono AU A04 and I am using this Mic booster with Rode Procaster and Focusrite Scarlett Solo and I can say that for the price it is similar to Cloud Lifter, I haven't tried CL but from the YouTube reviews I have noticed that there is not much of a difference, the product is amazing and provides clean gain to my mic. If you are looking for YouTube and podcasts, you can definitely go with it, because at the end of the day, your actual audio will be compressed by YouTube so it doesn't make sense to buy Cloudlifter for double price. If available I would say go with Triton Fethead or SE Dynamite as with those you can eliminate the need for aditional cable. The only con is it costed 6,628 while the original price is around 2,300 even after adding 30% excise and around 1,000 rupees for shipment, the seller made a profit of 2,900. Is it worth the price? Yes Are other alternatives easily available? No Any other product at this price range? Abolutely No

Devo dire che ero scettico e mi sono ricreduto, però in base alla vostra configurazione lo consiglio e non lo consiglio. -Su microfoni come: Shure MV7X(come il mio) o SM7B, SM57/58 hai un guadagno ottimo, comunque per microfoni dinamici, non a condensazione(perché non trasferisce i 48V dell'ingresso in uscita). Basta avere un interfaccia o mixer con il Phantom 48V attivabile ed il gioco è fatto perché va alimentato. (Quindi mi raccomando, anche se il vostro mic non lo richiede, voi dovete attivarlo perché altrimenti non funziona) -Guadagno pulito e trasparente, senza introdurre rumore significativo -Se hai un’interfaccia moderna con preamp di buona qualità, potresti non trovarlo essenziale ma per il prezzo (se lo trovi scontato fino a 40€) si potrebbe anche provare In Conclusione: Il Klark Teknik MIC BOOSTER CM‑1 offre un eccellente equilibrio tra prezzo e prestazioni: +25 dB di guadagno pulito, costruzione solida e compatibilità con microfoni dinamici e a nastro. È consigliato per chi usa microfoni “esigenti” su interfacce con gain limitato o in contesti dove minimizzare il rumore di fondo è cruciale.
