Pemberton skillfully writes this book as an outstanding effort to help us realize our impact and recognize the impact others have. Beacons of hope in dark and trying times, icons of stability even when the foundations we have might be rocky or hard to navigate. He does a fantastic job pointing out and mapping how often overlooked little things can be a big deal. It’s often difficult for us to realize our impact on others and how we are seen when we are so enmired in our environments. Rocky and jagged shores with rough waters tend to distract us from the fact that we can, and likely are, saving others. All it takes is to observe and look at what we’re doing, and make sure we’re providing the proper energy/steps. You don’t have to be superman to save a life, and Pemberton drives this home. Excellent read, I definitely recommend this book.

The Lighthouse Effect by Steve Pemberton is more than a novel of inspirational stories of people finding that one thing or person that inspires them to do or be a greater person. This book compares the majestic and powerful stance of a Lighthouse, willing to stand against the wiles of the ocean, and the trials facing you now. Though the water beats against the Lighthouse and the shores that hold it at bay, the Lighthouse gives direction, guidance, and a life-saving light to those around it.I feel Steve Pemberton, in The Lighthouse Effect, touched my life now as I needed a little nudge to pivot from where I am at to a different focus point. You read about others who have faced heavy trials and found their guiding light; you feel as if you can conquer the storm you are facing. The author includes tools and steps to guide you to a clearer path. I highly recommend this book for inspiration and channeling your life in a desirable direction.

I wish I could give this book more then five stars, it deserves more than that. The Lighthouse Effect brought me so much peace and a reminder that, although I didn't realise at the time, my life has been touched by many "lighthouses" in the past, for which I am eternally grateful. For as it was partly the actions of those individual that have led me to where I am today!The Lighthouse Effect made me sit and reflect on these people "Lighthouses" and yes, they are the real heroes. The kind of people that probably didn't know just how important their kind acts, words and advise were in helping me succeed.The book is very well-written and I love how author Pemberton brings out very practical encouragement that anyone can use to become a beacon of hope for others. I very highly recommend this, and will definitely reread again in the future.

The Lighthouse Effect is more than a book. It’s a poignant reminder of who and what we truly are beneath our superficiality: beautifully human. In this inspiring read, Steve moves gracefully between telling the lighthouse stories of others and offering real-life guidance on how to cultivate and share our own light. So much so, that I occasionally forgot what kind of book I was reading. But it didn’t matter. In the end, I’d felt all the feelings, and was sure of this: the way I live my life makes a difference beyond me. And the same is true for you.

This is an amzing story about an orphan who found people in his life that helped him overcome an awful childhood in a foster home. He also identifies other people who helped and inspired others. He was fortunate to attend Boston College who's aim is to teach students to be of "Service to Others".

The Lighthouse Effect is a wonderful read. Steve Pemberton has weaved together 10 inspiring stories of those who have been a guiding light of hope and perseverance to him and others. What is so real is how we can all be a lighthouse to others just by doing simple things like providing a resource, extending a caring hand or sharing the love and empathy that we all are capable of.Please put this on your holiday reading list.
