When a spray can makes too big-a-mess - and wasteful - and expensive stuff.
They hold together pretty well, no shedding. I use them to apply oil, or solvents, to my bicycle chain, and motorcycle chain. Used to use spray-on chain spray (expensive, overspray, sore finger trying to lightly regulate, etc.. Just 10w-30 is probably better for your chains anyway (that's what most manuals say).A few ounces of oil you use for many other things is much cheaper than 1/3rd of a can of the spray-on stuff. And I'd say the 10w-30 penetrates more. I leave it on for about an hour to let it penetrate, then wipe off. I have less splatter (throwing) from daubing the oil than from the sticky sprays. Then toss the dauber. Price per each is cheap.

Lint-free
Perfect size for applying almost any liquid. I used this to apply "Tan-Kote" to my holster. No mess; no lint came off the dauber. Individual results may vary; would definitely buy again! A+++++

Just what I needed.
I live in a temperate rain forest. All kinds of trees and shrubs pop up wherever there is soil. If you cannot use a mower or weed whacker in the space, like under a hedge, they just keep growing. I used a herbicide you apply to the fresh cut stump that even kills wisteria! Unfortunately the applicator spout dripped and ran down outside the bottle and onto the rubber gloves. It was impossible to keep it under control. It killed a few nearby shrubs where I put on too much. UNTIL I APPLIED IT WITH THIS DAUBER! I recommend putting a poison label on an old vitamin jar short enough for the ring to stick out when in use. Fill it using the root killer's spout. Keep it in ziplock bag. You can see my first set-up in the photo. No drips, not even on the paper towel that's in the bag to catch drips when I used the set-up. I store the dauber in a separate ziplock. Thankyou Pawpaw Ridge Homestead for sharing these to apply stain!ADDITIONAL USE: After we washed and ran our heavy curtains in the dryer, they were sticking in the track. I placed a wool dauber in the track and sprayed on silicon. I was able to reach every part of the inside of the track. The dauber was grey with dirt when I finished. Now the curtains slide better than ever!

Good enough
They can shed a bit, so use some tape to remove loose strands if you are using a product that you don’t want to contaminate with fibers. Worked well with Bluing gel and liquid, as well as wood stain.
