Q: What type of seed is best (I'm talking weigh wise)?

I have used a millet and sunflower mix on one side and thistle on the other. Seems to be ok. There's a hole right in the top middle of the suction cups. I always tie my feeders off to the locking mechanism of the window just in case. I the winter sometimes the suction lets go with the change of window temperatures. Hope that helps you out.

Q: Is the opening large enough for larger birds like morning doves?

I see Doves on the ground by my other feeders and they may feed under it where it’s on my window. Mid size birds to include Cardinals enjoy feeding On the safflower seed to avoid squirrels.
