UPDATE AT BOTTOM... This is the first time I've actually sat down and written a review of a product I've purchased on Amazon. I felt I owed my experience to others looking for relief from their depression. I'm a male Caucasian, 24years old, 6' tall, blue eyes, and 135lb's. I'm very lean but athletic shaped. I swim and bicycle at least once a week. I also work in construction so I stay physically fit. I've always had ADD and problems making myself fall asleep. I recently fixed that problem with a product called Prevagen. Now that I sleep well, the depression became much more noticeable. I had plenty of sleep, healthy diet, and lots of good people in my life. So why was I still depressed all the time? I've always had ups and downs in my mood but probably mildly compared to most others with chronic depression. I'm still able to function with daily life and keep a job. Sometimes though, I just can't handle life and I try to stay tucked away from sight...hidden from others. I got to a point where I was genuinely unhappy for longer and longer periods of time. Thoughts of suicide were common. At the same time I had lots of positive things in my life to look forward to. It didn't seem right to be depressed for so long. About every three weeks to a month there would be a time of happiness where problems seemed solvable and possibilities for my future abounded. Then it was back to the negative thinking and pessimistic outlook on reality. I've tried SAMe with no results at all. I've also used strattera but with side affects of impotence. That just wasn't an option. I've now been using this brand of St. Johns Wort for about 2 months. Since the first day I started taking it, I cannot recall a bought of depression. I'm now able to see the changes I need to make in life. If you also suffer from prolonged periods of depression even when things are looking good in your life, I suggest spending the money on this product. I came to Amazon to buy a different product and ended up purchasing this also because it was so inexpensive. It was certainly worth it for me. UPDATE 02/20/15 After about 2 years of using St Johns Wort daily, i discovered that i had a problem with my liver not functioning properly prior to using st Johns Wort. As a result i suffered the effects of numerous vitamin and mineral deficiencies. The most notable being a deficiency of tryptophan. Tryptophan is naturally occuring in most foods and is needed by the brain to create neuro receptors like dopamine and epinephrine. So i stopped taking St Johns Wort and began taking Tryptophan. I take 700mg of tryptophan 3 times daily which COMPLETELY corrected my depression almost immediately! I felt more clear minded and content within 30 minutes of the first dose. Ive continued taking it as a supplement 3 times daily for several years now. I notice a large decrease in effectiveness when only taken twice daily. Now im able to focus on the cause of my weak liver. Ive been making strides in this search and just recently believe ive found the cause....Now i just have to fix it. If you also suffer long term depression it may be possible that your feeling the secondary effects of another bodily illness. I hope my experience helps anyone with similar trials....Also if you choose to use tryptophan long term i suggest purchasing 250g of powder along with 1000 "00" sized capsules and filling machine. Using Amazon as my source it only costs $45 for 6 months worth of tryptophan which is about 300-400% cheaper than buying them pre-encapsulated.

Didn't expect it to be so effective! A life saver in the literal sense. I didn't notice any side effects or addiction. I'm no longer using it now but definitely top on my list if I need an anti-depressant in the future.

I have been taking this St. John's Wort vitamin for a week and a half now and I can attest that it has been beneficial. I noticed it helped me feel very relaxed at nighttime. I also noticed I felt sleepy. The capsules are large and I had to drink sufficient liquid for the capsules to digest. The top was easy to open. I did not experience any side effects.

Great to take in the winter time when I get the blues more. Also helps with my anxiety. Be sure to discuss taking this with your doctor, can interfer with other meds.

Ordered this St. JOHNS WORT after having family issues. Feeling down and upset. ST JOHN WORT was very effective in boosting my mood & decreasing my anxiety

I’ve been dealing with daily fatigue and muscle/joint aches for the past year now. Even if I rest/sleep, I still feel tired. My doctor mentioned it might be fibromyalgia, so I did a little research on supplements that might help. I bought this and on my first day that I took it with some oatmeal, I literally felt really good the whole day, no emotional fluctuations, no anxiousness, and felt naturally energized. I didn’t have to stop and rest every 20-30 minutes. So happy I found something that works because I had tried everything and nothing helped.

I hate to give this a negative review off side effects because not everyone experiences them. So take my review with a grain of salt. I took St Johns Wort in my 20s for seizures (not grand mal shaking, but they were detected on a brain scan when I’m sleeping). I was put on epilepsy meds, which were awful. I felt drugged all day, could barely keep my eyes open. I felt the prescription was too much considering I wasn’t having full blown seizures. I saw a holistic doc, who put me on St Johns. Miracle supplement! Worked so much better! I had mild stomach upset at first, and my eyes got sensitive to light (wore sunglasses). Both are common side effects. I only took it several years though, as the long term studies weren’t established and I didn’t know how safe it would be. Fast forward to now, with me in my 40s and experiencing menopause issues. I find out St Johns helps with not only mood, but also night sweats. I give it another go. I live in a different state now though, so I didn’t have access to the ones I did before. So Amazon it is! This is a well known brand that’s been around awhile, so I felt it safest. I’ve had to quit them pretty quickly though. I wanted to push on, hoping it was just an initial thing, but the pain got too severe. Severe gastrointestinal upset! I almost went to the ER, my stomach felt like it was in knots. Upset is a side effect, but I never experienced it to this degree in my 20s. I even pulled back the dosage (one pill a day instead of 4), but it didn’t help. I’m not lying when I say the pain was similar to contraction labor pains, it was that bad. I stopped the pills, and the symptoms went away. I reached out to holistic doc here who said recommended dosage is no higher than 900mg a day. These pills have 700mg in just two, and you take it twice! So 1400mg a day! But even when I just took the one (so 350mg) I still experienced the upset. So I guess if you’re still reading this, my advice is to be aware of side effects. This is actually a wonderful herb with so many helpful benefits, not only for depression. You might not have any problems with this brand. Start small, one pill a day, and increase if you don’t experience any issues. But for me personally, this brand isn’t a good fit. I may try a few other brands and see if it’s the brand, or if my stomach is just too sensitive to St Johns in general now. That’s why I still did 3 stars. It might be my own sensitivity and not the brands fault. But I do find it concerning that they recommend taking 1400mg a day.

Excellent value for price, quality is good. No odd aftertaste like a few products I have tried.

If you suffer from periodic low mood I recommend these - you can also take on an empty stomach which is a big help. They’ll move you from a 4/10 mood to a 5/10 - which some days is all you need

確かに今まで使用したサプリと違い即効性があるような気がします。日本のサプリ会社は定期購入を勧めますが3ヶ月続けないと効果が出ないと言うが1カ月飲んで少しも効果を実感しない物は絶対効かないサプリだと思う。この商品はその点すぐ効果が出るだけに毎日飲むのが常用性になりそうで怖い。効けば怖いし効かないと文句を言うわがままな消費者です。
