just go buy the cheaper one..
okay, so i have the matching lunch bag, 5L i’m the chili color. and THAT, works fine. my food stays cold, it’s roomy, and the insulation is super easy to clean. this food jar on the other hand ? they should just take the word ‘insulated’ out of the name. at first i thought my food got cold bc i was keeping the jar in the lunch bag, but i even left it out of the bag and it was the same gross room temp mess. i’m still gonna use it though, because it IS adorable. i’ll give it that !

Make Sure to PREHEAT With Hot Water
I have several Thermos funtainers, and although they are great at keeping food warm I noticed that my 4 year old was not too keen on eating her hot lunch out of it because of the narrow and tall shape. It was hard for her to get the food at the bottom, and she wouldn’t finish her lunch. I love the low and round shape of the Hydroflask thermos because it makes it easier for my kid to eat spaghetti, chicken nuggets, etc. out of it. I always make sure to preheat the Hydroflask container with boiling hot water, and it ensures her food is kept warm for 3+ hours. I drop her off at preschool around 9-9:30am and she reports that her food is still warm by lunch time which is at 12pm. However, when I tested the Hydroflask and Thermos funtainer it was clear that Thermos keeps food hotter and for a longer period of time. I filled both with boiling hot water at about 211 degrees Fahrenheit. Then after 3 hours, the Hydroflask was at 154 degrees and the Thermos was at 172 degrees. I checked again 1 hour later and the Hydroflask was at 142 degrees while the Thermos was at 165 degrees. But if you are looking for a low interior and easy to eat out of insulated container and you only need to keep food warm for 3 hours, I would definitely suggest the Hydroflask. If you need to keep food piping hot for longer than 3 hours, the Thermos wins hands down. There was zero leaks with the Hydroflask container, and it feels like it was made with very high quality materials. It has been dropped several times and it looks like new. I gave it 4 stars even though it doesn’t work as well as Thermos because it is oddly hard to find a short and wide insulated container. So it is perfect for my needs and best of all, it encourages my picky toddler to eat.
