My First BOB Books: Pre-Reading Skills

Love the series!
These are some of my favorite series of books to teach my students and I’ve even brought them home for my kids to help them learn to read at home. The books are high-quality, but do only have limited colors on the pictures. They are progressive reading series and typically matches the sequence of reading skills being taught in the classroom.

Good for learning to read
Easy to read books to help your littles. Bought these because it's what the teacher had in her kindergarten class. My kids loved that they had the same books. I used them for all my kids and then handed them another mom to use for her kids.

Great Books For Pre-Readers
My 3 year old enjoys listening to me read about about Sally, Seth, and Tanner in this set of pre-reading books. These stories are more complicated than the beginner set of BOB Books, but that’s because these books are intended to be read by the parent to the child. Overall, I love this set and would recommend it.

Who knew?! - fantastic!!
My 3-year-2-month-old absolutely loves these pre-reading books. He doesn't know the alphabet reliably yet. I bought these on a whim, not sure if "prereading skills" would be something noticeably different from the other books we read, but WOW yes they are. You find some of the same pattern games in other books, but always with other distracting details or illustrations. Here the words and line drawings are simple, the pattern games are clearly and implicitly laid out, and they ratchet up gently in difficulty step by step. And my son LOVES it. He obviously loves both the challenge and the satisfaction of being able to meet a reasonable challenge gauged just right for him. He insisted on reading all 12 books at once the first time we opened the box, and carried the boxes around all evening begging for more and laying them next to his bed when he went to sleep. When he woke up the next morning we had to read them all over again. He's always enjoyed books but I would never have expected this reaction out of him!! Many thanks to the authors, if they ever see this review -- you've made my son so happy. We especially (each in our own way) love that they are not didactic -- you figure out the pattern but nobody is giving instructions or telling you what to do. I highly recommend this to other parents of littles.

Reading Readiness Tool
As a homeschooling mom, I do a good deal of research before buying a product. My best friend actually told me that I was a walking review in my reviews of things I have purchased, so I decided to see if I can help anyone on the fence about their decision. In my research, I have come across these amazing books. I do agree that these are a great step in really getting kids interested in reading as well as introducing important skills. My son is constantly talking about Sally, Seth and Tanner. He is also pointed out shapes in our daily life. I do believe that these books are a way to advance his reading readiness and will be searching for others like this is the future. I also highly recommend rebus stories and a to z letter find pages.

Love this brand
Love these books. They're thin paper books, which unfortunately, my toddler tore apart quickly. We love how easy BOB books are for early and new readers!

These books are an absolute must for your first time reader!
The media could not be loaded. These books are unbelievable! Not only did they boost the confidence in my 5year old, but they are so simple yet so easy for them to learn, comprehend, and want to keep going! He was able to read his first full book within 20mins of opening the box!
