Well built and compatible with multiple filters
I recently installed 4 of these in a row to clear up the smell in my water. The first filter is a 50 micron, followed by a 20 micron, then a 5 micron, and lastly a carbon filter. This setup has successfully removed the taste and smell from my water. It took about a week for the filters to start getting any kind of color to them, but I am glad to see that the sediment is not in my drinking water or going to be clogging up my washing machine inlet filter, staining toilets, etc..My reason for 4 instead of just one filter was to gradually remove contaminates from the water and by starting high and working down I should be able to get away a little longer before replacing my filters since the 5 micron won't get clogged by 50 micron sized debris. I have noticed a drop in pressure, but I suspect it is because I run as many filters in a row as I have. The filters I have purchased have almost all been universal fits and I haven't had any issue installing them or getting them to work properly. I am definitely happy with this system.

If you don't want a flooded basement, don't buy this.
We had a WH-DL installed a couple of years ago, and it worked well... until it didn’t! The filter bowl broke off below the thread (see pictures), and flooded our whole basement, causing a lot of damage. We had to call ServPro (great service!) to remediate the flood, and had all our carpet replaced.I contacted Watt/ premier h2o, but since the filter had been purchased over a year ago, Premierh2o and Watts filter can’t do anything to compensate us. Their customer service is unhelpful and unwilling. In the last of my several conversations with them they sent me a claim form, and said I'd have to wait to hear from that department because customer service doesn't deal with it. SO BEWARE!!!If they eventually compensate us, I'll update my review.Important observations:- If you buy a filter from Watts, MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL A DRAIN right below the filter. Factor that in as part of the installation cost.- If you have a faulty filter after 1 year, use your homeowners insurance and send your insurance the defective part. Your insurance will file for subrogation, and hold Watts responsible. I wish we had done that to begin with. They'll probably answer to the insurance's legal team much better than to a homeowner.A smaller point, but just one more evidence that the company is not homeowner friendly: there are no spare parts available, if your filter breaks, you have to buy a whole unit, or pay for someone to uninstall the defective unit from your house.

Great Filter - Easy to Install - Easy Maintenance
I have now purchased two of these filters: one for my home and one for my business. The installation takes about 30 minutes and buying the Culligan UB-1 bracket is almost essential. Thank you to the reviewers who provided that information. The housing for the filter is clear, so you can always see the condition of the filter. I have experimented with 50, 20, and 10 micron filters. The 20 micron seems to be best for my water issues at home. I keep a post-it next to the filter and mark down when I change it and which one I used. Just remember the lower the number, the finer the filtration, and the more frequently you will need to change the filter. The filters are very inexpensive and you can set them up in Amazon's Subscribe and Save to make your life easy and save money.Changing the filter is simple, but experience will teach you to keep a small container handy to collect any spillage from tipping the filter housing once you remove it. Also, if you fill the cartridge housing with water before screwing it back on, you will reduce the amount of air forced into your water lines when you re-engage the filter.I have city water at home and it turns everything brown, i.e. tubs, shower curtains. The cartridge turns mud brown within 40 days and I usually change it at that point. The picture below shows the filter after 2 weeks and I am holding a new filter next to it. I have noticed a reduction of staining in my showers since installing the filter. At my business, we have well-water that is high in iron content. Even after running it through a commercial softener system, the iron content is between .3 and .5 ppm which still turns bathroom fixtures. We use the whole house filter for the campground bathhouse using a 10 micron filter. I change the filter every 30 to 40 days depending on bathhouse use. I has saved me a lot of cleaning and the toilets, sinks, and showers look great.I would definitely recommend this filter for just about anyone. You really don't know what is in your water unless you have it analyzed. The water at both my home and business looked crystal clear before I installed the filter. I was amazed at the particles and staining the filter picked up. I now feel better about running the water through my water heater, dishwasher, washing machine, etc. It's worth every penny.

Not my first time using this model and I love it.
We had a identical filter housing freeze and break in the recent sub 20 degree weather here in the south. Our plumbing isn't as insulated as it needed to be for the weather. I sent my wife to lowes to pick up another unit to replace the one we had and they wanted 39 dollars for one that didn't even have the bypass valve on our old one or this one. She called me and I said not only no but $$*$ no. Went online here on amazon and 10 minutes later had ordered this unit for 25 dollars. Nice thing is that it is the same unit we had and I ended up just putting the plastic filter housing onto the old head unit so it was a 30 second repair rather than having to cut the pex piping and install the whole unit. With the bypass valve you can still have water if something breaks like the housing while you get the new parts in. I'm very happy with my old unit and since this is the same one I'm sure I will be happy with it. I wish I could find the housing only as I now have a head unit without the clear housing.

Catastrophic Failer
For the past 2 years it has worked with no issues, but this morning it failed badly. The canister cracked and I have seen this complaint in other reviews, I believe it's a manufacturer issue. I was using it as an under the cabinet filter with standard pressure. It put about 2 inches of water in my kitchen/living room before I discovered it. I am just happy I was home!
