No need to download anything. The GT media system already the IPTV functionality already incorporated.

Does the fta satellite receiver have closed captioning on it?

Not all channels or programs offer CC. It could work for 1 show, but not the next. It's not a required feature despite it being very helpful to hearing impaired. Consider also that satellites are owned and operated by a variety of countries that do not have the same standards as USA.

Will this US tv stations?

It does NOT support ATSC used in the U.S. for television stations. It only supports ATSC-C(J.83) and I'm not sure where that is used. So no, it will not pick up over-the-air terrestrial stations in the U.S. I have one and there's no way to do it. And that's disappointing.
