Using these clamps is so much easier than my previous methods of staking tomatoes.
I grow full sized tomato plants indoors, and have tried multiple method of staking them. With every attempt to contain and manage plant growth, there has been problems of one kind or another. When growing tomatoes, you should remove some of the suckers, but leaving some of them allows branching of the plant. The suckers do produce tomatoes, but with too many of them, you will get more, but smaller tomatoes. So the trick is to allow branching with some of the suckers, but not allow so many the size of the tomatoes is compromised. In the past, I have used plastic stakes from 4' to 6' in length and tried tying the stems to the stakes with twist ties sold for staking plants. This can be a real pain because the twist ties have to be cut to the right length and then twisted to hold the plant stems to either a stake or another plant stem. As the plant grows, the ties have to be untwisted, and removed to move them to a better location. Depending on the size of the plant this can be a tedious chore. The stakes that I bought came with crossbars that attach to two stakes so branches of the plant can rest on them for support. The problem with this system is that stakes must be spaced to the length of the crossbars. This may sound easy, but it means the bottom and top of the stakes must be exactly and evenly spaced all around the plant. I have found this method, even if stakes are evenly spaced confines the growth of the plant so the interior does not get enough air circulation. This causes the leaves at the interior of the plant to wilt and die off. By using these clamps, I can place stake where needed and clamp the plant stems to the stakes without constricting growth as the twist-tie method does. I also don't have to worry about the spacing of the stakes. I can place the stakes where the plants need support, and depending on plant growth can sometime place two stems in one clamp. These clamps have an opening for the plant stems and a part that clamps onto the stake. So, the plant stems are not held against the stake. As the plants grow, it is so much easier to move these clamps than to undo twist ties. These clamps are so easy to use. Simply open the clamp to insert the stem of the plant in the larger opening, and them clamp the smaller end onto the stake. The clamps are made of heavy plastic and should last multiple seasons. These clamps are versatile, and may be used for plants with both large and small stems. The smaller clamps are best used for thinner stems, and the large clamps work well for thicker stems such as base stems of tomatoes. Both the large and small clamps can hold at least two stems that fit the stem holding part of the clamp. Some reviewer complained these clamps were easily broken. I had a couple of them "break", and threw them out. Fortunately, the garbage had not been taken out and I retrieved them when I realized they weren't really broken. When the stems are too thick or there is too much stress on the clamp, the hinge part snaps apart. They can be easily fixed by snapping the hinge back together and reinstalling the wire that works as a spring. So far, I have had no problems with these clamps, and am so happy I found them. I have already ordered the larger package of clamps. At least for tomato plants, I would highly recommend these clamps. They are so much easier to use than other options and even promote healthier growth of the plants. UPDATE 02/09/22: I have been using these clamps for about 1 1/2 years and have completely discontinued any other method of staking plants. I use them for tomato plants, peppers, and even basil to hold hanging stems upright. Especially for tomato plants, these clamps help so much to prevent the stems from breaking under the weight of tomatoes. I have stakes the clamps hold on to, and at this point, this is the only method I use to support the weight of fruit on stems and any stems that bend under either the weight of fruit or leaves. These clamps are so easy to use and don't put any strain or pressure on stems. UPDATE 5/17/22: Having grown beefsteak tomatoes for a couple of years,, I have found another use for these clips. In addition to supporting the weight of the tomatoes, these clips can be used to help the plants grow more upright rather than spreading. This would also work outside to grow tomatoes outside in smaller spaces. I place the stakes closer to the main stem of the plant and use the clips to hold branches more upright. This not only supports the weight of the tomatoes, but confines the plants to a smaller space. I hope this review was helpful for you. I will revise this review if my opinion changes.

Highly recommend! Buying 2 more sets today!
Great for tomato plants, clematis, etc. We ordered these last year (2024) and like them so well we are now ordering 2 more packs. Our sun here is INTENSE, and the clips lasted extremely well in the UV rays. We had only 1 break out of 80, and we had 1 where we had to rethread the wire. The 2 sizes are perfect for our needs. The smaller ones we use on our clematis, and the 1 3/4 inch are a perfect size for our tomato’s and peppers and cucs. Last year we also tried a different style of a clear plastic clip which were much cheaper. Did not care for those at all as they were too hard to snap and unsnap. We donated those to a local thrift store. These green ones are super easy to clip on or unclip, even if you have arthritis in your thumbs! Highly recommend, and we already have 2 more sets in our cart today since we doubled the size of our deck garden this year. The photos were taken today and show LAST year’s clips which look as good as new. Right now we have to bring our tomatoes in at night since the temps drop into the low 40’s. We have them in rolling grocery carts, which make moving them in and our every day (for at least another 2 weeks) very handy.

durable and attractive
I used these on my tomato plants that are out of control. I was using bread sack ties but as the branches get thicker ties don't work anymore. I love how it holds the stems without damaging the plant. These clips are easy to remove and move around. The plastic is sturdy. The green color is nice and makes the plant look groomed and neat. I like having 2 sizes since I have small cherry tomato plants with thinner stalks too. This is a great value since I can reuse them each year. The steel is durable and did not rust even when I got them all wet in the rain. Not cheap at all.

Lasted one season
These clips were very easy to use and were great at securing my tomato and pepper plants to poles. I ended up using all of the larger ones pretty quickly. However, when taking down my garden for the season, just about every one of the clips broke apart as I removed them. Just glad I found this out now, as I was about to order more for next season.

No downside-genius plant training device
Perfect for gardeners. I ordered them to use in vegetable garden but immediately diverted many to any plant needing support, training, or protection. Definitely the easiest device for these purposes. Beats garden twine, garden tape, twist ties, and zip ties. Have used on jasmine, clematis, mandavia vines, raspberry vines, vegetables, succulents and more. Expensive to be sure, but so well made and designed they are worth the price for special plants. I still use other methods on very large projects like grapes, larger established trees snd heavy projects. The center of the clip is the genius feature being large enough to hold many small vines or a couple of larger branches without damaging them, leaving the front (small opening) to firmly attach to trellis or stake. I was initially concerned they would break but I have used 30 plus (and reordered) on various plants and stakes and not broken any. Definitely one of my best “ok I’ll give it a try” discoveries ever.

Sad but fab
Its really sad that I’m writing this (must be because of lockdown) but these are great for supporting my tomato and cucumber plants in the greenhouse. So easy to use and can be moved around unlike those ties that are so fiddly.
