Shaken Bible Study: Discovering Your True Identity in the Midst of Life's Storms

Some people know who Tim Tebow is because they pay attention to football, some know him because of his Christian beliefs and others know him because of both. I'll admit, the first I had heard of him was because I love football and I believe he was even on my fantasy football team one year. I had seen him on TV "Tebowing," the act of getting down on one knee even if he did it by himself, and I was always curious about him. Lately I've been getting more interested in Christian inspiration books and "Shaken" showed up on my list of recommended books based on my purchases. I was drawn to this book and didn't even hesitate to order it because I was so interested in reading it.Even from a very young age, Tim Tebow has identified himself as a Christian and always wanted to help people. His goal was to be a quarterback and he wanted to work hard and do everything he could to fulfill his dream. He played college football for the Florida Gators, won the Heisman Trophy in 2007, and was later drafted by the Denver Broncos in 2010. After playing for four different NFL teams, he decided to play baseball instead and plays in the minor leagues for the New York Mets.During his time in the NFL, Tim Tebow had difficulty proving that he was the best quarterback for the job and became discouraged after getting cut or traded repeatedly. It was during this time that he relied on his faith to get him through the tough times and to not give up. He prayed to God that everything that happened was for a reason and that He had a plan. Tim Tebow likes to say that "identity comes not necessarily from who we are, but from whose we are." He feels that we aren't defined by our occupations; rather, we are identified as children of God."Shaken" is not an autobiography so you won't find detailed information about Tim Tebow from a young age through present day. There are many anecdotes that back up his Christian beliefs so you will hear some of his stories about his time in the NFL, as well as in other stages of life. This book is considered an inspirational read and one that encourages you to turn to God in good times and in bad and to guide you to stay positive in the "midst of life's storms."If you are hoping for a sports book, "Shaken" is not what you want. However, if you are interested in a good Christian inspiration book that will help you to slow down and think more deeply about yourself and your relationship with God, this book is an excellent read. I feel that this book is mostly Christian-based but he uses his life experiences, which include his time in the NFL, to back up the points he's trying to make. While I could've read this book within two days, I chose to read it slowly so I could absorb it and ponder what I had just read. I took my time and spent four wonderful, thought-provoking days within these pages. His words touched me so much that I cried several times because, while "Shaken" does not hold all of the answers to our problems, it encouraged me to think deeply about both good and bad times and has helped to start the healing process with some issues I have been grappling with for several years. It's not a book that will instantly fix your problems but it can help you come to terms with things you've been dealing with and know that God always has your back."Shaken" is one of the best Christian inspiration books I've ever read and I'm glad I purchased it! This book is one that I won't read just once and I will definitely pick it up when I need some encouragement or just when I want to review some of the pages I bookmarked. I purchased the hardcover copy and am glad I did because I will proudly display this book on my bookshelf. I've already pre-ordered the Shaken Bible Study and am looking forward to digging deeper into this book with it. Regardless of if you, or someone you know, is a Tim Tebow fan, this book would make a great gift for a friend or family member who needs some inspiration. I'd even recommend it for teenagers who are interested in this book since there is no profanity. "Shaken" has made me a Tim Tebow fan for life and I look forward to re-reading this book as well as reading any other Christian books he writes. I love his positive and encouraging personality and urge anyone interested in this book to buy it!

I was fortunate to be selected to be part of the launch team for Shaken by Tim Tebow in exchange for my honest review. I have read Shaken and my honest review is what follows.I am sure you have heard of Tebowing and seen photos of the ‘John 3;16’ written in eye black in the NCAA National Championship game in January 2009 to draw attention to this verse of scripture. Tim Tebow is why you are aware of these two phenomena. In Shaken, Tim Tebow’s second book, you will learn interesting facts about these two events he is known for but much more about who Tim Tebow is and what makes him tick. One of the categories this book is listed under is Christian Living and you will learn more about Christian Living from his life experience, much he has never shared before.This is not a biography but does contain biographical glimpses from his young life so far and his perspective or the rest of the story behind these experiences. If you are a Tim Tebow fan from his college days at Florida or one of his professional teams you will want to read this book. It begins describing his gut-wrenching kick in the teeth when he was cut from the New England Patriots and his story weaves back and forth through his career on the field and his off the field activities which will have a much more lasting effect on those involved and you as well after you read and learn more about those.I was not a Tim Tebow fan when he was in college since his Florida Gators were a chief rival of my favorite college team, the Alabama Crimson Tide. In his first book he described his decision choosing between these two schools as the one he would attend and play for. I was glad Alabama did beat Tim Tebow and Florida in the 2009 SEC Championship and go on to win the National Championship that year following Florida doing the same, with Tebow leading the way, in the 2008 season. I did respect him and what he had accomplished and what he stood for as a Christian. I just was not a fan.However, since that time I have become a Tim Tebow fan because of his witness as a Christian. We are brothers in Christ and our paths may never cross in this life but I know they will in the future we will both share in Heaven. That is why I wanted to read this book and am glad I did. When you read this book you will see he has been shaken but his life is about much more than the public perception as portrayed in the media. How he has responded to these life events is inspirational and will give you hope. His message of good news and his faith journey might change your life.I encourage you to get Shaken today. I'm not finished with the book yet, but it is such an easy read. Tim tebow really did write some fantastic books, how he can relate good outside football career to stories of children and people struggling with their faith is awesome. His stories of heartbreak from getting released to the pictures he can paint of trips he's taken and d people he's helped is incredible! As a athlete myself, and no where near his level, I enjoy reading books like this that I can relate to. I look forward to reading more of his books!

I really appreciate Tim using his life journey with God in this book by illustrating he's been through challenges, still going through it but yet holding ever tightly to God. It is so easy to think Christians doing great things for God don't go through some of the life challenges we go through such as disappointment, failure, hurt, pain etc. Tim opens up about his relationship with God and illustrates the power of speaking the word and finding peace and rest in God no matter the storm. He shows that God never leaves us and he is always with us even in the storm when it all looks bleak!! Buying the next book!!I loved it and would recommend it to all giving it 5 star rating

I found Shaken to be a very encouraging read. Tim was very open about his struggles and how he got above them. It was awesome and encouraging as well to read about the people he has met along the way, especially the ones he met through is wish organization. I would recommend this read to anyone that needs encouragement or just wants some good news to read. This is easy to read as well.

I found it to be an excellent book...so much so that I bought 7 books to give to both of our daughters and to each of our 5 grand-children for Christmas, at a bookstore in Michigan, because it would be too late to order it on-line on time . Thank you Tim. J.V.

easy to read,

Tim has such an encouraging and conversational way of writing that you feel like you are sitting and having a coffee with him and just listening to his amazing stories. He is such a godly man and I can't wait to read more from him. Highly recommend it!
