Take it from a sock hater...
I hate socks....with a passion. Top of my pet peeve list? Socks. They are torturous, disagreeable little things I will only wear when absolutely necessary. As I live in a region which experiences glacially cold winters, I sadly have to imprison my feet in uncomfortable, irritating socks far too often, but find they do little to thaw my frozen toes, while simultaneously contorting themselves into incomprehensible positions inside my shoes and boots. So, imagine my surprise when I first put on a pair of these Smartwool socks and... *loved* it? My feet felt ...happy? And warm? And blessedly dry? And -- wonder of wonders -- they stayed that way all day long, and through multiple attempts on my part to prove it was too good to be true. But it was true! They really are that great! And I am now 100% a fan. By some miracle of otherworldly powers, these socks don't bunch up. They don't twist in my shoes/boots and cause crazy lumps just when I'm trying to get somewhere in a hurry. They don't pill. They don't squish my admittedly large feet or squeeze my toes. And they don't get damp or clammy or smelly inside my very fashionable but otherwise impractical boots. I didn't know socks could be tolerable, much less downright glorious to wear... but these definitely are! Every evil sock in my collection will now be replaced by Smartwool socks, and I won't regret for a second the extra money spent to do it. Worth every single penny. From the bottom of my feet: thank you, Smartwool. My winters will never be the same.

great wear several years and padded toes, heel great socks
These sock are the best they wear for about 2-3 years at least. I have bought these socks for at least 7 years, I wear them in hiking boots and also my everyday shoes for work. I do a lot of walking at work and the padded toes, heel really help. I walk my dog daily and walk 5 + miles. They are not too tight at your ankles. They are worth the price I don’t buy regular socks anymore. I wear a medium and my shoe size is between 7-7 1/2 they came quickly . I used to buy them at Dick’s but, with Covid I stay out of the stores and they don’t always carry them. I do wear them through fall and winter. 5 stars

Warm and comfortable. Great quality.
I have several other pairs of these socks, and I highly recommend them. They are comfortable and fit well. My shoe size is 9B and I purchased the Medium size. They let your feet breathe and work great with several types of shoes. They come up high enough to be comfortable with hiking boots and lace up winter boots. I wash them in the washer in cool water and hang to dry. Unlike some other brands where comparing items purchased from previous seasons shows how a company has cheapened their products, these Smartwool socks are exactly the same in size and quality as those I purchased a few years back. All the various Smartwool products I have purchased are great quality and are holding up well. Glad I found this brand. Definitely worth the price if quality is what you are seeking. They are equal to our northeast Ohio winters.

A little large in the toe area.
I was in need of wool socks to wear when gardening, I have a very small foot. Barely a ladies 5, so I ordered to styles. I have owned SmartWool socks before and loved them. So ordered two different styles, because I wasn't sure on the fit, the other style had a tighter fit around the toe. These are roomier, great if I am wearing around the house on a cold evening, but too much excess to fit in boots or shoes.

New hiking socks
I am a huge fan of wool for socks as it is breathable and durable. I bought these after an ill-fated hike with the wrong socks left me with giant blisters on my heels. These socks are very thick and I have used them with a silk liner to further reduce the chance of blisters. I ordered the women's Large and wear size 9-9.5 shoes and they fit great. The are very cushioned and my feet feel great while hiking. No more blisters!

Smart Wool Socks are too large for me in Women's size small. I really need a Kids large
I love Smart Wool socks but the sizing for my small feet is a problem. I wear a size 5 to 6 shoe. I thought I'd try a women's size small but it was too big. The cushioning is great and socks like these last for years (4-5) before wearing out. I will in the future order Kid's size large.

Best. Hiking. Socks. Ever.
I've been wearing a highly recommended competitor's socks lately and wanted to experiment a bit. Husband and I were backpacking in the Gila Wilderness and had too many creek crossings to count. I was switching back and forth between two pairs of the other socks mentioned above and saved these for the last day's hike out. From the moment I put them on my feet I couldn't stop singing their praises. Even with the last few creek crossings my feet didn't feel uncomfortable when wet. My feet are large (women's 10) and I was surprised that these fit with a bit of extra length in the heel. No complaint though, they didn't bunch up or give me any rub. I'm definitely going to get another pair at least!

Smartwool hiking socks are a smart choice
I own several pairs of Smartwool hiking socks and would not use any other brand. From walking normal ground to rugged mountain terrain, they protect as advertised - padded, dry wicking leaves heated feet dry, and weight is appropriate for all-year use, depending on personal sensitivity and comfort. Also true to advertising, they size perfectly with shoe size.

Incredible product, buy Smartwool for your hike!
I'm new to hiking so done my research prior to attempting the WHW and these socks were highly recommended. I purchased this pair and a few of Bridgedales. We decided to carry our backpacks and wild camp so comfortable feet were a must. I noticed when I wore the Smartwool socks that I was comfortable all day long, no blisters in sight. The same cannot be said for Bridgedales. Since trying these socks, I won't purchase anything other than Smartwool for hikes or walking the dog. You will not regret buying these!

Always love my smartwools Good fit
Always love my smartwoolsGood fit, warm and wash nicely. Company sent brown instead of green - not sure why because they said they had green. Am hesitant to order a red pair that they say they have just in case I get another brown pair.

Great socks, they don't matt under your toes when ...
Great socks, they don't matt under your toes when your feet are hot and sweaty, and are comfortable for long hikes (did 23 miles in a day, did change the socks over just because that's sensible). Bought the small, am a size 5, so just at the lower end of what they recommend for medium. Definitely not too small for a size 5 foot, and would have been really irritated with a size up - recommend actually getting a tape measure and measuring the length of your foot as that's a bit more accurate for the sizing. Quite padded and warm - these are the medium crew, and doubt that I would really need the heavy crew in hiking boots. Did get a blister across the back of the heel but suspect that was partly to do with not tying my boots up well. Have not had any blisters on sole of foot or toes.

The best.
Every year I reorder Smartwool socks - great in walking boots but also dare I say it around the house - which is how I wear them out! These are women's large, I'm a man size UK9 / 43, they fit fine, I like the colour - women's clothes often have brighter colours, so why not.Teko socks also good.

Best walking socks out there
After being recommend these socks by a friend, I honestly can say I'd never wear another brand of walking socks again! These fit well, are warm snd wick away moisture perfectly, but they are not too thick. Not 100% sure about the longevity of the socks, as they're starting to bobble at the back, however for the sheer comfort, they're worth it.
