Map of Bones: A SIGMA Force Novel

Always searching for a correlation between science and a good narrative...
Rollins’ work has never been a disappointment for me…The narrative is always exciting but it’s the connecting threads to science in the real world that peaks my interest for research…Experiments in Cis-platinum and Carbono-platinum are already being used to treat testicular and ovarian cancers…Bristol-Meyers Squibb has reported success with monatomic ruthenium to correct cancer cells…and same with platinum and iridium…these atoms make the DNA strand correct itself..rebuilding without drugs or radiation…There you go !

Gripping Story
Best of Adventure and Action. With intricate historical facts. A breathtaking run against time. Sigma Force rocks.

Daunting, but entertaining as well!
Unlike most of the techno-thrillers flooding the quick-read (customised for airport or beach) market, this book was neither heart-stopping, nor exactly pulse-pounding, and not at all easy to digest. The amount of history, mythical stuff, science, and philosophy that have been churned into a potpourri to create this novel, is enough to produce a headache. Also, the antagonists were, again, cut out of the cloth that has been used by every novelist in recent times, giving it a rather boring look. Nevertheless, this book would remain memorable to me primarily because of the scientific discussions therein, harping back to the days of Michael Crichton and (very early) Preston-Child. Recommended.

Amazing start...
I have been a big fan of the series since I first was given a copy of Judas Strain and read it not knowing it was a series. But this is about Map of Bones. While this is the second book in the series it feels more like the first. This is the first book in the series that introduces us to a lot of key returning players. While Painter Crowe is returning from the first book (and he is a key player in the series) he takes a secondary seat most of the remaining books. The series really starts to focus on the series regulars.I love that James Rollins has a mix of interesting subject matter (religion, history, myths, actual facts) mixed in with action and develops the characters at a nice steady pace. I also like the fact at the end of each book he has a section that fact or fiction and gives you further ideas to explore the ideas faced. This is a great action book that will keep you on the edge of your seat and turning pages. The characters develop gradually and at a great pace set with the tone of the book. And each has their own distinct character traits without overplaying them and making you either dislike the character or finding them obnoxious. This is a smart, action packed book that I would highly recommend to anyone who is interested in action and science mixed with history.. You will not be bored or disappointed.
