Worth the read
I'm someone who has identified as an atheist, and not a lazy one, I was very sure that science explains everything and that religion is a tool of control (still pretty confident about that last one, and this book doesn't negate the first), but recently I've been exploring a call for something greater that I couldn't ignore. This book does a fantastic job of demolishing myths about faith and myths about science, as well as the unnecessary fighting between the two. I think this book taps into a sense of wonder while still satisfying critical thinking needs. One of the things I'm not a huge fan of is that he starts to repeat parts of earlier essays. They are relevant, but I'm a stickler for school rules about not plagiarizing your own work (haha). I would also advise readers that this book, while written logically and critically, is through the lense of a Catholic, so it can still largely apply if you're considering other world religions, but at certain points it necessarily focuses on a Judeo-Christian perspective.I also have a few more books on my list to read thanks to this one. It's worth your time.

Antidote to atheism: uniting faith and reason
Excellent series of essays from a Catholic Christian theoretical particle physicist, showing how faith and reason are complementary, not in conflict. Topics include Evolution, Mind/Soul, Big Bang/Creation, Reductionism of the human person, Science as a substitute for religion, Finding God through science, and Popular myths about historic scientific figures. His depth of scientific understanding as well as his deep faith are evident in each essay. Highly recommend!

Profound observations from a real physicist, not a popularizer that delve into science and religion but don't have the slightest idea of what they are talking about.

Your family, friends and neighbors need us.
We live in a culture with the religious , hence existential grasp of a slow nine year old. Seriously. 17th century determinism in our "understanding" of physics and the "physical" universe. Give me a break. And what could be more self-evidently self contradictory than Humean "empiricism" which laughably.. Hume thought he had established. And what could be more critically dumb than not even knowing why we should care? Professor Barr is a delightful spirit opening our blinkered eyes to the Light from Light. Its OK to actually be intelligent about reality howsoever uncommonly. Your family , friends and neighbors need us.
